electric winches on ebay?

i was looking in the 4x4 accessories on ebay and found these winches that are going for around $100. i was wondering if anyone here has one of these or knows if they would be any good for 4x4ing.
it's about the only winch i can afford and i figured it would pull a zook out of stuck mud. or would it be a waste of my money?
what do you guys think?

they may be strong enough to pull a quad bike onto a ute, or maybe only strong enough to pull the cable!

use that money to buy a quality snatch strap and two shackles. then don't travel alone and you'd be much better off than having a poxy winch.

i got a snatch and shackles but the problem is i sometimes do go out without another car, hence being why i was looking at winches. how much would a quality manual wich set me back?

tirfors can be had under $150 second hand

look around for a Warn 4500 or 6000 they are fine for a Zuk. Don't bother with a Tirfor as a primary recovery tool. If you have to do any long winches you don't want to do it with a manual winch. Use the tirfor for assisting in a recovery ie help righting a vehicle or stopping a side ways slip whilst forward winching but as a main tool, no.

The safest and cheapest (for you) way to go is talk a friend into getting a zuk as well then you can both go out and have fun

I've got a 6000lb warn on my sierra - seems to handle the work pretty nicely...

Set yourself up with a couple of snatch blocks, big shackles, extension strap and tree protectors and you should be able to pull yourself out of most things.

Having an electric winch definately takes the hassle out of recovery - i've helped out with a tirfor recovery before and it took forever in comparisson.
