Were these just on the pov pack? i.e. on the cruiser DX models

No not all the wagons had barn doors some had the horizontal doors.
In answer to your question shannon they were the pov pack in the mqs and mks that had barn doors and were used by govermnet departments eg police and usually farmers etc. This is information is from one of my 1980 overlanders if you want to read about it.

Just to throw a spanner in the works my MK has banr doors but isn't the pov pack, It has a/c, p/s and even the stereo pod.

The non pov was the turbo? ...they also had a pretty swanky cloth trim. Long live retro designers
