Patrol Onwers Advice is needed on Suspension.

Post by CWBYUP »

Hi all,

Well I'm selling the zook to do the build up on the Patrol Wagon 4.2L TD.

I'm after some advice on what to do with the suspension. I'm trying to get the best of both worlds and get something that not a pig to drive on road but still good off road.

I've been ready all the threads about it and have recently seen a few people saying there going back to 4" lift.

My first idea is 4" lift 33" or 35" / 36" when money permits and just trim the guards to suit.

Add twin lockers and leave it at that, what the suspension wont drive over the lockers will drag me over.

What do you think ? Have you been down this track ? Would you go the same way again ? would you go bigger or smaller ?

This isnt a truck to do the simpson in but in saying that i want something thats a pretty capable weekend play toy that i can enter a few standard comps in when the need arises.

I dont want to spend a heap of money in the wrong places so any advice you have will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance Nick

GQ 89 model wagon aftermarket turbo stock suspension.

Got it cheap so had to buy it.

Will be a good truck with a few dollars spent on it, was just what i was after, rough body ( paint is scratched up ) but cheap enough to have a few dollars left over for mods.

Go the 4 inch and 35's will fit no worries!

For my money nuthin beats Dobinsons gear, have it all on my rig and have not regretted an hour of doing it!

Give Marty a ring at Dobinsons Sydney on 02 4647 8295 and tell him Steve and the 'Lawnmower' sent ya and he will set ya straight. and at a good price!

Good luck and have fun once its done, I do! :D
