Last November 2006, I killed the water pump on the MK patrol whilst cruising down the freeway, needless to say in the process it cracked the head (quite bad as it could not be repaired) well come Feb 2007 I finally get my hands on a new head (thanks to MQSWBUTE ) have the head checked and machined, get proper metal head gasket, put it all back together. Surprise surprise she starts and drives, great I say. Drive around for about 3 weeks then the clutch starts slipping, this is the point where I nearly cry as about 10 months ago I had the gear box out to replace the transfer case and it took 3 attempts of undoing everything dropping the box out, putting the box back in and putting it back together only to find my good friend TILTS (a member of this forum) used the wrong thrust bearing. Back to the slipping of the clutch, I order a new clutch (being a turbo diesel not cheap) last night myself and 2 friends, one of them being TILTS , drop the gearbox (having the 2â€
sweet, I feel your ain, although mine is a sus and diff rebuild. Id say the old sd33 wont hold together for as long as i have planned.
SHould be only a few days and ill be back in the running.
Its amazing that, after all the cars i have/had own/ driven, I like getting back into the old oil burner.

all right as of today i have pulled the old diff centre out of the sub and this is what it looked like
i reckon water got in and that is why she died, i have a new front end and rear diff center (taking me to the 4.6 ratio, as it was to hard to find the 4.3) so hopefully by this weekend she will be back on the road, making a grand total of changes in the last 8 months, new gear box and transfer case, new head and injectors,new heavy duty clutch and las t but not least new diff front and rear(and with the new front diff new disks and new CV's and bearing's)

havent even hit the hard job yet....
wait till u try and undo all the spring bolts and u bolts for the first time when u put your new springs under.....
a nice hint for that.... buy a set of new u bolts from repco ( they order them in but is next day arrival ) before u start so u can cut the old ones with a grinder as i doubt u will get all of them out cleanely....
and make sure u have a blow torch or oxy handy to get the spring bolts out....

I already have the new u bolts sitting in their packaging, just need to get new greasable pins for the fixed end of the springs then I will start trying to move the old ones and the shackles should be right as I only put in new extended shackles late last year (hopefully they will still allow the spring to slide out relatively easy) can I get the new pins from repco as well as I have no problem doing this later in the week when time (and friends permit, Gday Tilts what are you doing later this week?) but any advice from you guys is always appreciated

repco dont do the pins but i did find them at 4x4 obsession in melton and the price was extremely good as well, so this week i will be cutting out the old pins and putting the new springs under the old girl and i have also treated her to a 10000 pound winch as well, which my mate Tilts will have to modify the bullbar for as he is the jack of all trades (what would we do with out mates, pay full price maybe?)
