killing a 3F

Post by macca81 »

ok so my mate wants to stick a diesel in his cruiser, but he wants to wait till his current 3F has died first, now between the 2 of us we figured that left to its own devices, the 3F would outlast pretty much everything else on the truck, so he has decided he is gunna start the engine and let the sump drain out, and we all start taking bets on how long till it all goes boom...

now as fun as this could be, does anyone else know of any other way to kill it? (bearing in mind that, 1; he does not want to sell/salvage it, and 2; he wants it to be abit of fun...)

and yes, b4 u ask, he is a bit of a dopey/crazy frigger :P

Put valve grinding paste in the engine and full the tank with paint thinners and see how hard you can drive it.

Done this with a charger and hauled ass before sending a conrod thru the bolck.

Well if you mob don't want to completely waste your insignificant lives....find a local event (school fete or show or sumthin), then get the punters to bet on time of blowup. Winner gets 10% n the rest goes to charity......

Or donate it to someone wanting to learn about engines. Pulling the bastards apart is the best way to learn.

Remove all water from motor and thrash it.......should go for at least 5 minutes.....the head gets nice and red if you hold it flat......and there is no chance of a rod knocking off the dizzy....just siezure...if you want the leg to come out of bed....hold it flat and give it a drink via a hose in the carbi flat out.....take some piccies for U tube :)

To be honest i'm not real impressed with this attitude. I've considered grenading an engine on purpose before, but really it's not a nice thing to do to a piece of machinery. Perhaps if you don't want the engine you could give it away to someone who really needs a new engine and can't afford it. Perhaps you could PM V8patrol and let him know you have a free engine for his dad who needs an engine

i would be carful not to break something else when she blows. Im not sure if its likely/possible, but you wouldnt want to have to replace a gearbox for that little bit of fun you want to have,.

It'll go alot longer than 5 mins ;) I drove a 250 crossflow that the fan dropped in the radiator to work and back with no water 25klm's each way, to see how long it would last, the last stop on my way home it was stalling out under 2000rpm, so i had to jam the throttle so it wouldn't stall whilst I went to the shop, then rev piss out of it to make it move, just got home swithced it off...ran on for a little and that was it..heat siezed, cranked on the starter after a few hours cooling, but had very little comp

Fark did it smoke when you were driving it

i would say burnouts if you must destroy it.
but failing that v8patrols old man will probably love it and get you a couple of cartons for your trouble.

make some ones day post it up for free.

thaks for those concerned about the attitude, but i did state that he wants to have fun killing it and does NOT want to sell or salvage it.

i think its an odd thing to do, but if thats what he wants to do, then its his choice.

i think he liked the idea of valve grinding paste tho...

Each to their own....i really think the best thing for a 3f is a bouyancy test...if it floats, it was a good one.........they are heavier than a diseasal and rev less, if one is tied to an anchor chain of a smaller boat, a big swell will pull the boat under with a 3f full of water...The last one i owned was reliable and dependable, i dont know why i hate them soo much, poor old defenceless chevyota mota .....and yes, i wrote that 80 off at Newnes.

We did exactly the same thing to one but we just put a brick on the accelrater and left it in the middle of a shed didn't really blow though just slowed down and died then restarted it and then it blew a rod through the side.

I had a mate that was sending his old torana to the scrap heap. UC torana so you dont blame him :D

We dropped the oil and water, after thrashing it around ina paddock for an hour or two and running out of fuel, ended up nudging it up against a brick wall, putting a brick on the accelerator and sitting back and waiting.

One of the rods went through the block and out the side of the gaurd, landed a good 50 metres away in the scrub, glad I wasnt standing next to it!

Be careful when your expecting to launch rods !

I strongly suggest you look for a good second hand one rather than pay that sort of money for a coat of paint....or better still a good 265 hemi and adapter plate/250 ford /v8 holden/v8 chev....u can buy a whole cruiser for 1500 these days, if your lucky, a v8 modded onwe already...
