Good luck

i know where your coming from, i also hate those pootezza lights you see on civics and other ricer cars. i just like clear factory style lights, not completely clear so you can see the bulbs and crapy plastic chrome.but wouldnt it just look like another . set of fake altezza lights

beat me to itRuffy wrote:The lenses are actually colored plastic not coated with the color. You cannot simply 'bleach' them to make them clear.
if you break a lens you will find as ruffy has saud that the plastic is coloured, you can however re die them so they are brightly coloured again
If the above post did not offend you in any way please PM me so I can try harder!!
i would spray them with that black spray paint that when they arent illuminated they look solid but still allow light through.. ill try find a link for the product

If you have faded lenses and just use coloured globes it is not legal.grimbo wrote:maybe but at least they will be legal and more importantly easier for others to seebadger wrote:but wouldnt it just look like another . set of fake altezza lights

you can use inexpensive clear coloured hobby paint.
i have done this and it works fine. most of your toy shops sell it.
as above i agree the plastic is coloured so nothing will make it clear without destroying it.
some older lights are clear but have a coloured lens inside stuck on with some sort of glue, you can remove these.

When my Commo needed a blue slip I had to buy a new set, they wouldnt pass it with clear lenses and coloured globes.Tiny wrote:according to the the guys doing my blue slip it is fineHotFourOk wrote:If you have faded lenses and just use coloured globes it is not legal.grimbo wrote:maybe but at least they will be legal and more importantly easier for others to seebadger wrote:but wouldnt it just look like another . set of fake altezza lights

i agree i dont mind smoked taillights. I think the problem here is though, if you smoked them theyd be all black tail lights as im pretty sure the problem is that the colour has gone from the lights.wrksux wrote:if you want a differnt look why not just smoke them
I too think that smoked lights look good, and about a million times better than altezza style lights.

did you still have red reflectors? thats the catch.HotFourOk wrote:When my Commo needed a blue slip I had to buy a new set, they wouldnt pass it with clear lenses and coloured globes.Tiny wrote:according to the the guys doing my blue slip it is fineHotFourOk wrote:If you have faded lenses and just use coloured globes it is not legal.grimbo wrote:maybe but at least they will be legal and more importantly easier for others to seebadger wrote:but wouldnt it just look like another . set of fake altezza lights
yeh, this is most likely what ill do. i did the same to my commo wagon, just two very light coats of tail light tint on the inside made a world of diference.i agree i dont mind smoked taillights. altezzas are legal so are clear... aslong as they have a reflector in the factory position (if theyre being picky) the ones on commo utes are legal, i know because i was going to get them (before i realised they are gay, just like farm gate bullbars ) and i got the nod from the modplater compliance guy near the mechi
turbos are nice but i'd rather be blown
