Fkng fuel tank leak. ()&$#(%^#(&^$#

Post by mrbonk »

When the clutch slave cylinder died on my GQ Patrol on the weekend, I had to get RACQ to come and tow it home. They pulled it backwards up onto the tilt tray, using the towbar. Now, my fkng fuel tank is leaking. It's enough to form a small puddle (perhaps twice the size of a 50c piece) under the vehicle overnight.

Any suggestions for where to start looking?

I had just filled it up at the servo when the cylinder died, so it was full to the first 'click' of the pump. I wondered if perhaps some had 'overflowed' from somewhere when it was going up on the truck, but the angle didn't look that steep??

I recently found a similiar issue with mine - turned out to be a small hole in the overflow pipe. Fuel was seeping out along the pipe, down onto the centre seal lip of teh tank and finding it's way out the back.

Before getting too far into into it - check that out first. Pull off the filler, have a good look, clean it up, replace the clamps.
