Nite Stalker Roo Lite
Anybody got these installed and care to share what you think of them? I'm trying to decent between a pair of these and a pair of LightForce 170's - the Roo Lite's seem like a good choice because of the reduced cost. I can afford to get the LightForces but it will be tight and if I can get near equal quality and performance for reduced price then I can use the money elsewhere.
Re: Nite Stalker Roo Lite
Do it then. You will not be disappointed.thomasando wrote:I can afford to get the LightForces
I looked at the Roo Lites when I bought my 240s... they just didn't seem to have the quality of the Lightforces... the reflectors of the LF looked awesome, whereas the Roo Lites just looked okay.
For the money they are probably good... but I don't think they would be on par with LF.
Can you get the range of covers for the Roo Lites?

To be honest, we don't do that much night driving so I'm not sure if I can justify the huge price difference of the LF when they'll get used for maybe 30 minutes a week. Something a bit middle of the road would be good, because there are occassions when we do long haul night driving, but typically this is not the case. The main thing I was sort of worried about was the durability, because I know how good the LF's are in this area.
There are some covers available for the roo lites - blue and yellow as far as I know.

My hilux had 170`s and now my cruiser has 240`s .
Mate I wouldnt put anything else on a car these days.
When I looked at the roolights at the shop I thought they where just a cheap mock up of Lightforce. Since they are from night stalker, all the stalker brands I`ve seen the reflectors and lense`s all seem to go a hazey yellow.
It`ll come the time that you have to drive a distance at night and you`ll be glad you have a quality light see thru

I would stick to the Lightforce, they are tried and tested. Parts are everywhere and you know they will be around for a long long time.
I think Roothies roll-over at TT shows to how strong they are..they still worked. there was also a video fo the 240's being shot with a shotgun somewhere on the net..

hahaha... poor guy.. this post hasn't helped him i'm sure of it ! Everyone is taking turns which brand they prefer Well I bought some ziel? lights.. they are cheap, like $50 each for an ok looking spotty with 100 globes, and they are much better than standard !.. but I wish I had spent more and got some LF. Do it properly, do it once. Be a shame if you got roo's and you weren't happy with them.
Good luck bud.

And then.... i got 240 Blitz's for 385 at the local TJM.RockyF70 wrote:Just had a quick squizz on ebay and LF's are 345 and Roo's are 245, for that sorta difference EVEN I would go the LF's, except i'd be worried about them being stolen
170s are just 170s.. (or 180s in the Roo's case)... they'll never match up to the shear relfector size of a 240 (leave all HID and ridiculously priced opinions at home here please).

look mate, go to the shop, ask if u can hook up a set of each to a bat, and see how they look.
nightstalker are just cibie lights under another name, they are made in the same factory and is basicaly cibies cheaper brand. the quality is still there just the price.
nightstalker are great, i cant fault them. LF might be better, but not by much, certainly not enuf to make spending so much more worth it, IMHO...
but like i sed, ask to try em out, no good store will say no, not if they want to make a sale...
my 2c is still behind nightstalker tho

Thanks for all the input guys. Ended up going with the roo lites, simply for budgetary reasons (the treasurer was more happy about the roo lights). When having a demo in shop I honestly couldn't tell the difference between the two. Got them installed today and had a quick burl of them tonight and they're just phenomenal - and I haven't even aimed them yet! Thanks again for the advice.
ive found the nightstalkers to be awesome for the money. well made too.
ive not used the actual 'roo light' model, but i have 6 x nightstalker 170s on my pajero.
my old patrol i had 4x 100w lights on the roof - brand was "night vision", but - when i turned the two nightstalkers id bought for the bullbar it overpowered the rooflights to the point where they made no difference whether they were on or off...
so this time i bought nightstalkers for the bullbar and the roof lights.
cant remember cost, but i think they were around $140 a pair.
the other lights i have on the bullbar are IPF which also are quite good.

You have spent heaps more than what LF 240s cost on all them lights... I had roof lights also... until i bought the Lightforce. No need for them anymore.
Plus my alternator likes me a bit more now.
Fair enough the Nitestalkers are cheap, but you've had to buy 3 sets? (Plus the other rectangle ones)
Are the others IPF or NANE?

IPF with Nane covers. car came with the rectangle ones.
all three are pin/distance lights which made for poor spread beam (obviously).
thats why i bought the nightstalkers - for the spread beam.
I didnt 'need' to buy 3 sets, i only have 1 pair hooked up (bar lights) currently and they are great - would have preferred two spread beam ones instead of the pin/spread combo since i already have the 3 pin beam ones on the bar.
the roof ones i just put on yesterday cos i was bored and had nothing else to do. heh.
I kinda was paranoid about expensive bar lights since i didnt want to break them hitting anything.
this is my 'play toy' so im not overly careful i suppose. If id spent $20k on a 4wd id be a lot more careful and mindful of potential damage.
