I have the chance of gettin an 1HZ efi motor out of a rolled 100 series, has 17k on the clock and its in good nic and complete at 6 grand
I was going to use the mech injected version
I want to know, can i put it into a 96 model 75 series,
I want to know if the wiring looms are usable through the series
I want to know if it will respond well to a Garret T4 and 18psi better than a screwd out mech version
Input appreciated.

1HZ Efi or Mech?

The 1hz is mechanical even in the 100 series, like the td42 it has some electics to control the egr valve but is still a mechanical, turn the screw pump.
To4 might be a bit laggy for some, depends on what you want to do with it, the little roller GT28rs works really well, will do 18 psi but you have to change the stud pattern from to3. It spools fast wich means less smoke on take off when you turn up the pump if it dosent have an aneroid.
Cheers Joel

Re: 1HZ Efi or Mech?
pretty much what Joel said. y3es you can put it in a '96 75. you probably have the option of ditching the EGR if you want since the '96 came without. If you don't, you will need to get the emissions computer and associated wiring from the wreck. the T4 is probably too big and will have a lot of lag, the engine does not spin fast and doesn't need a big snail to make decent boost. 18psi is a lot of boost for a 1HZ, 15psi is the upper end of safe even with intercooling unless you are going to start internal modifications, in which case you start getting into the cost of a direct injected motor. even at 15psi, intercooling and strict attention to exhaust temps are essential.Z()LTAN wrote:

1HZ is not forced induction. there are many aftermarket kits available though.KiwiBacon wrote:What's the stock boost on a 1HZ?
1HD-T is about 9psi, 1HD-FT is about 12psi in stock trim, but it's not a fiar comparison, since the direct injection turbos have much lower compression (around 19:1) so they suffer off- boost and peak performace is not what you think it might be. stock 1HZ is 96kW, 1HD-T is 115kW and 1HD-FT is 125kW, however the potential of the DI turbo motors is far greater than the 1HZ - with intercooling and a better turbo, you can hit them with maybe up to 2bar (30psi), which a 1HZ will never handle.

I'm getting my toy engines confused.dumbdunce wrote:1HZ is not forced induction. there are many aftermarket kits available though.KiwiBacon wrote:What's the stock boost on a 1HZ?

So the 1HD-FTE from the 100 series is around 12psi? I've always been impressed by the engine, but the rest of the 100 series I don't like.
