Does this Dual batt diagram look right?

Post by nicbeer »

Hey

I know it has been done to death but can't find any simple diagrams anymore around.

I am going to buy one of these switches

http://www.bepmarine.com/showproduct.cfm?productid=1060

and doing a dual batt install into the zook using the negative as the switching same as a mate has done.

Will be using two 520-600 cca delco batteries and thick cabling not determined yet. I want to be able to start of either battery and run acc or either.

Does the below diagram look right? if not what do i need to change.

So all your earth points will be through the body also, not directly to any terminal?
You could even run your main earths to a common ground where the switch is connected to.

So you're not going to run one cranker and one deep cycle?

yeah all negatives to common areas. body/chassis depending on what they are etc. Will work out final earth config later.

using two std batteries. if i get a couple years out of them i'll be happy. only 100 each. and got 4 years out of my old one. nearly dead now and that got abused.

Got the bits today. $210 all up for 2 batts (520cca delcors) and switch (switch was $45) nice and small and 200amp cont and 1350amp cranking. plenty for the zook and only 50amp down from the big cole hursy switch.

Talked to the batt people and this diagram is good to go.

Now to do some rewireing. is 2b&s good enough for the wiring or can i go for 4ga or similar.

Does this allow you to run a winch off both batteries together ?

Experience is something you don't get, until just after you need it.

Yes it should do as it is joining the batteries. may depend on hookup of winch also.

I want to start off either / both.
