hi crushu
still brain storming on my fc 170 I'm changing every thing in it i have a dana 44 6 stud (same as patrol stud pattern) out of silverado for the front and looks like i'll go dana 60 for the rear.
(as what i have is out dated)

Is the np231 transfer a good thing and how hard/dear is it to put reduction gears in it.

also i have turbo 400 but its not 4wd 0ne so it will need adapting whats the best way, i' m getting prices around $500-$600 to adapted $800 buys a 4wd version, and i would prefer a t700r for the over drive but some say there weak and it wont last, others say if i use the over drive manualy, it will be fine ie. take out of over drive before putting my foot down to over take.

I found a guy who will set me up with what ever diff ratios i want if i go the t400 i'll use 3.7 - 3.9 if i go the t700 i'll use 4.11 - 4.3 with 35's. I want highway abailty and use the torque from the motor for towing

also i have tremec 5sp chev bell housing posibly considering manual would this be strong enough to handle 400+ hp, 450 lbs + from the stroker sb or bb and how hard would it be to adapt i was told same 4x4 chevs used these in the states.
If not the 5sp may go in my monaro.
what do you think of the driv train combo

Havent forgotten, just had a million things to do. If you still want some info let me know. Out of curiosity, why no dana 60 steering axle for the front?

No, just wondering why you are not running a dana 60 front. Depending on what the axles origionally came out of, there may be a width difference too. What HP and tyre size are you planning on running?

It'll have a 383 stroker or 454 not shore yet wanting about 430 +hp 450 +lbs i want to keep it tuff but simple and reliable, hopeing to run a 4speed auto getting a lot of different opions there about strenght.
it'll have 35's or similar may run 18-19 inch wheels with a mickey thomson 35 14r 18 or 19 it will have some bling, thats why i want the same stud pattern as patrol, so if i want to play i can take the wheels of the patrol as they are just black sunny's with 35 M/T's then i can put the big wheels on my turbo zook with hilux diffs and give it some bling etc

what has a dana 60 diff up front, most things ive look out have dana 44 or smaller

Chevs, F250's some dodges - can be had in rhs or lhs drop. If you are going to be running big power and big wheels, a 44 might not last.

well there you go i thought all the yank tanks ran dana 44 up front I've heard of people putting 60 nuckles brakes etc on the 44 but i thought the 60 were for big trucks 4wd tray trucks etc and all your silverados, blazers, f trucks under 3 ton run 44
also i have a dana 44 with the 6 stud i want brand new never used with new brakes straight from states for a grand with what ever ratio i want also from the same place he'll do me a np241 transfer 4sp manual and a dana 60 or 70 with what ever gears i want for enother $1500 so its the right price just seems there aer different versions and i want to know my set up well before i put it all together so if i'm in the middle of nowhere i know what i can use to fix it

i have this link and the 60 seems to be over kill which I'm all for but i dont think i could get parts to fix it in a hurry if it did shit it self
