Have to say last years courses looked better as it was insane with all sorts of angles.
To me it looks like a giant ramp ! Here i was thinking it'd be similar to the american's no where near it.
Last year was similar to the yanks and more interesting

Must say I was a bit skeptical when I saw the course as well but I thought it offered some pretty good lines and the best bit was being able to quickly disemble parts of the course with the forklift to allow for quick and easy recovery when Balsy couldn't drive it! Still don't know what was wrong with the car? Oh and well done to Sam for running out of fuel half way up! Good to see the pro's make some mistakes too. Oh and Brado and Joel's buggy looked the goods too!

Here are a few pics I took today. The course looked like a good one to move around and give spectators an idea of the sport. Well done Sam and crew
Sorry for the quality, but I only had my phone I also got some vid of the offroad buggies as they both had Lexus quad cam V8s And that whats going in my buggy - they sound hot

after driving it today i would have to say that this is absolutely craploads of fun....the pictures dont really do it justice of exactly how big some of the angles are around the obstacle and then throw in the side pieces and it brings in a whole new dimension..this is by far the best fun ever to drive on and the felling when you are sitting on top of the container, front digging to the right and driving down the 50 deg angles almost on your side and then powering out of it is awesome..Mad Cruiser wrote:Have to say last years courses looked better as it was insane with all sorts of angles.

Im not too concerned about the way the structure looks at this point - we can easily improve on that.
But the driving is absolutely fawkin awesome. Its amazing the lines we are driving with such a simple structure. Put it this way on the 3rd course there were probably 5 or 6 very near rolls that had the spectators crying for more. On the last course we gave it to them and we had 4 rolls.
Probably the coolest thing for me was when we were just doing poser shots for some of the media that was there. And I mean absolute poser shots - you know, crawl forward.....stop...take a few shots....take a different line....get a wheel in the air....get a few more shots etc etc - no revs - no noise - just crawling. We probably had about 200 people just standing there watching us crawl. I couldnt believe it....they were lapping it up.
I just wish we had another week to build this stuff. We could of have had ten times the lines to play on. Best bit about it is that to do it again we arnt starting from scratch...we just keep building from here.
This is the future....

Comin in today for a look??? Remember, its a portable course... and theres always room for improvement. In the limited time Sam had (as well as runnin a business that is flat out durin the hot/warm season) I think we did exceptionally well considering it was only one container to play with. Plans are to have more containers with some more crazy angles and steeper climbs for the future showsMad Cruiser wrote:Have to say last years courses looked better as it was insane with all sorts of angles.

It rawked today !
Have to say that the pics make it look like it's nothing but when your there in person it's awesom !!!!!
Sam sure drove pretty well at 3pm today didn't touch any cones, Damo ripped the rail off the container. Brado broke a tailshaft. Bolsy got stuck on the top corner of the container and put it on it's side then rushed out and stood on the buggy waving his arms up in the air while the crowd went crazy Rod nearly completed it but was let down with electrical problems real shame cuz he was only metres away from the finish line.
Better luck next time Rod ! Love the smile on Sam's face when he had to recover rod's buggy with the forklift

I'll post scores up and feedback later on tonite. I just got home and need a good wash
damn Tom you really need to learn some maths
as if Homeless would have beaten me...i actually got him by one point even without driving the last stage thanks to my auto deciding it wanted to be a 2 piece casing...the roll from the top of the container (crowd pleasing as it was)cracked it open so now i need to get another auto into it before first round of Werock or the judges wont have anything to drive....
gotta say this was an awesome weekend,,highlights for me was Rods last run (it was all the navis doing ) over the 60degree and then back followed by the fire, Sams rear burning on the third run of the day and i was really pleased with my second run of the day, a clean run, albeit with a couple of reverses and the only one to drive the stage thus cementing my position as Apprentice Rock God....
well done to Sam for both the designing and construction of the course and also for some of the drives you did in the old school buggy..top stuff..you truly are the Container Jesus.,..lookout Adrian he is after your crown
i think the best thing about driving on something lke this is that you can learn so much about what your car can and cant do..i got more from this weekend of driving than i have for the whole time i have had the buggy...
now all i have to do is convince Sam to leave the course set up at work..lunchtimes will be heaps of fun

I only managed to catch about 30 mins of action late on Saturday afternoon, and I thought that the course looked much better in person. The guys did a great job constructing it and I am sure that the next one will be infinitely better in design.
As someone stated earlier, the ability to add on and modify in endless.

Dave just take it like a man and admit your were beaten by me in the oldest buggy and driver in Aus, you DNS the last stage and should have got 50 "L"
