35's on GQ - BEST STEERING DAMPENER
35's on GQ - BEST STEERING DAMPENER
Whats the best steering dampener to get for my GQ?
Do i get a 4 way spring return (toughdog) or standered style (rancho)?
Mine is the one with the dampener from chassis to steering arm but i have the brackets there for a steering arm to Panhard rod setup.Which is best?
I have had a wheel balance but i am getting a wheel alignment and balance from another place tomorrow to stop my steering shake at 60km/h.

just buy a good quality normal one
rtc (coil over) steering dampners stuff ya steering box out and hide other problems that would be better fixed properly.
if you car is alligned correctly they are not needed and are total wank factor item that will just put too much preload on your steering box

I just brought a RTC dampner about to fit it tommrow
Fark i hope i don't get heaps of problems with it it's one of those 4 way toughdog thing's..
Rick.
fox yes they are $300 but they will last a lifetime. every component is cheap to replace and they work sweet as. I think return to centre are a shite idea period! you can change the shims, oil weight and gas pressure too.
Also NEVER mount them chassis to draglink. Mount drag to panhard unless you like bump steer. The 88/89 had chassis to drag and it is a stupid idea. perhaps if the drag and dampener are parallel its ok but as soon as there is any lift and therefore angle involved a percentage of the dampeners force (depending on angle and deflection speed) steers your truck!
Also a rtc just increases your load on the steering system for no reason. the wheel returning to centre is a castor issue and should be dealt with accordingly
