Hey
I was looking into some OME's today. Called the guy at the ARB stocker in Artarmon, and he quoted me $97 each for the fronts, and $117 each for the rears (or about that - can't remember exactly.) And then bushes quoted me $30 each set, so $120 total - therefore looking at over $500 all up... so yeah all up pretty pricey.
But when i mentioned that i had extended shackles, he told me not to bother with the lifted springs, cause the bigger shackles made the springs sit wrong, and not give the lift they were supposed to. I don't understand how this would happen but assured me it would. Now, i'm SURE i have seen guys here who run 2 inch lifted OME's with extended shakles - has anyone experienced what this guy said or is he full of it?
Cheers
James

Maybe have a look in the bible, most of the vic guys run OME's with extended shackels. A quick search instead of starting 2 threads would also tell you this.jamespbeasley wrote:Thanks
I'm more concearned with what the guy at ARB said about not putting the OME lifted springs with extended shackles - trying to find someone who has it or something like who can confirm or deny what the ARB guy said

a 2 inch extended shackle (2 inches longer from standard) pushes one end of the spring 2 inches away from the chassis. Because the axle is roughly halfway along the spring, you only get half of that in lift (1".)
You can buy extended shackles, or you can make them. They can affect castor angles, and steering, braking and handling in a negative way, but can also improve flex and ride smoothness a bit too (from what i understand/have read!).
You will find alot (ALOT) of opinions on the subject by clicking on the search button above, typing in extended shackle, click the "search for all terms" button, and hilighting the "suzuki" subforum and clickin search.
Google may also be of help when coming to descriptions, explanations and effects of different suspension setups.
