GU and GQ Gutter Widths

Post by Swerve »

Hey,

Will a GQ Roof Rack cage fit a GU. The one I'm looking at dosnt have adjustable gutter legs, might be able to bend them a little.

What a croc of shite.

They're the same width, only drama is the roof line on a GU bows slightly whereas the GQ is almost dead flat. I've used a gq roof rack on a GU, and eventually we brought a GU rack cos the GQ just didn't fit perfectly, but you could get away with it.

Hi all

Not For Highway Use is right.

I kept my 4wd systems full cage rack from my old GQ in anticipation to fit it to the GU.

I had it sandblasted, Zinc Coated and sprayed with Polyurethane and when the time came to fit it, sure enough the GU was 23mm narrower at the gutter. The gutter also has a slight fall/curve downwards to the front whereas the GQ was as good as flat. Luckily all I had to do was bow in the legs a little but the roof line on the GU is much flatter than the GQ so the rack looks like it is way up in the air.

Regards

Nathan

Ah right, well I take that back then! Sorry dude.

Mine fitted fine from memory except for the bow? Maybe it just pulled it self right when we did it up.

Having said that t was a 4wd systems roof rack, are you sure it didn't shrink?

Not anymore I don't Bruce.
From memory, and I don't have the measurements in front of me. The GQ's were approx 1315 average width at the gutters and the GU's are somewhere around 1265 so they are around 50mm narrower than the GQ. Also the gutters to roof measurement on the GU is about 70 odd mm compared to the GQ at about 105mm.
Regards Andrew.

Many thanks for the spec's. I actually thought the roof line was higher on the GU then GQ.
