Oil filter question.

Post by buddha »

After recently purchasing a 94 GQ 4.2 dx with DTS turbo the time has come to do a servive on it.
Can anyone recomend what brand or code oil filters to use , and since this is my first truck with 2 filters , how much oil should it take.
Looking at using penrite hp 15 /40 since its starting to get a bit colder.

I have always found that my 91 takes closer to 12 L of oil. It has a regular filter and a by-pass filter. Tried using an aftermarket filter for two changes and had an oil leak which looked like it was a main seal. Turned out that the aftermarket filters were never seating right - even though I was always careful to clean the mounting plate and lube the new filter seals. Went back to the more costly Nissan filters and no more disappearing oil. :D
