Has anyone added a facit or similar 4-5 psi pump back at the tank on a diesel engine. Would it help or hinder. I added one to a marine engine to help on startup after being idle for weeks at a time. it ran constantly and the motor felt a heap better. comments please

I have used them a lot on Toyata 80's that pick up fuel poorly when the tanks are lower than 1/3 up big hills, they do seem to improve the performance some, we noticed a drop in a vehicles performance before realsing the pump had failed, we used a large Facet pump as they can run dry.

the facet pump i run on the patrol has problems if it stops picking up fuel for a short time. For some reason it won't self prime and i have to get under the fourby and take the fuel line off and suck the fuel through. Never heard of them being used on diesels though..... probably not a bad idea

I've recently completed a 1HD-FT into SWB PZJ70 conversion and the engine would only just idle due to a fuel starvation issue as the injector pump was trying to suck fuel through the small diameter original fuel lines.
Tonight I fitted a walbro 6065W 10psi pusher pump close after the fuel tank. Its totally fixed the issue and the engine runs well and revs throughout the rev range.
Would definantly recommend fitting one if you are ever likely to have fuel starvation/supply/surging issues.
For what its worth:
We use the Walbro 6067W (24v version) at work and like most pumps you do have to be careful not to run them dry.
We have just completed testing some of the new Walbro pumps (FRB series) that are superseeding the 6065 and have run them dry continously for 4 hours before getting them to pump diesel again.
These new pumps show no failures or drop in performance after being run dry (on our tests * insert disclaimer here*)
Im pretty sure Walbro also garauntee a dry run time on these pumps.
But yeah, as a general rule PGS 4WD is correct.. pumps dont like to be run dry. Just thought the above might interest some people.
