patrol / land cruiser

Post by numbnuts »

not looking for arguments but mate and i have been looking for a gu 4.2 td 1999-2002 for the last few weeks but cant seem to find any, but what we have found is lots of 100 series 1998- 2003 in the car yards. it there a reason for this as i have been told the early model cruisers had some problems?

are you finding turbo diesel cruisers? or petrols?

I'm not aware of any problems with the early 100series.

I guess one reason is the 4.2TD GU is rare because its the patrol everyone wants, whilst theres 3litre turbo's everywhere, cause no-one wants them. With the cruiser, theres only one TD, so theres bound to be a few more floating around than 4.2td patrols.

There's more L/C's in the yards because there's more L/C's been sold new than Patrols.Look at the sales figures over the last ten years Toyota constantly sell more full size 4WD's than any other manufacturer. They may not be the best 4WD but they are popular especially with fleet buyers
and Toyota get a lot of return buyers too.So you will find a lot in the yards
because the used market is saturated with them.
Thats my 2 bobs worth...

nothing wrong with early 100's. the 4.5l petroll is a ripper. and u can throw a turbo on the 4.2l deisel and get beter performance than the 4.2td nisan.
only downside is u don't get as strong diffs.
depends what u want to do with it
