Would like to hear people's opinion on which coil over to use for a winch comp truck. FOX, RADFLO, KING etc
HZJ75, 3in spring,2in cab,drop shackles,shock hoops and inverted shocks, fourbys 15x10 beadlocks, 36x12.5x15 simex ET2,
Comp Tray,Turboed 1HZ.

fox and king same factory i've been told. king seem to be shorter for the same travel - ie less dead space. king seem to be finished off a tad better than fox. That said I went fox, for me it would be who is cheaper. on track sell fox, hunter rivmaster sell both and racerunner too, racer imports sell fox,

As far as shocks go, I think a lot of it comes down to personel preference. Kind of like Holden or Ford........
King and Fox are made in seperate places.
I think that to a certain point it comes down to price and people backing up their product. With this I dont think you can go wrong with Fox, SwayaWay, King, Bistein, Aus Shock or Radflow. Just make sure whoever you buy backs their product with parts and service after the sale.

Ive been doing some phones calls and asking around myself.
Seems like they are all within about $200 bucks of each other from what I cant find out so far.
As for parts and Servicing as far as the info I can get ive been told most blokes in offroad racing dont touch them much at all, and in winch comps we dont get to the high speeds they do, and certainly not for the amount of time they do! So they shouldnt need much attetion apart from maybe once per year?? (Not 100% on this yet)
So far in Vic, Rowan Cavanah (in think thats his name, red GQ and won the outback) that I spoke to was very helpful no bullshit and was very happy to help set them up to the car as a part of the deal. The others didnt seem to know as much about the set up.
Ive also learnt that there is LOADS of ways that you can set them up and if its not done well it can be useless having coilovers! NOt unlike Motox suspension settings, you stuff it up and it will throw you around big time!

King and Fox are not from the same factory. With King you got the choice between Pre-Runner and Race quality. Fox is more off the shelf, King takes a few weeks, but you can have them much more custom made to suit your truck and appl..Rohan is the man to speak to. He knows what works for you. Hope this helps.m
Sort of sounds like King, Fox and AusShock are all similar quality and performance. Just depends what sort of back up you get and how much the seller assits with the setup.
I even heard of a mob in Shepparton that is making a shock that is no good when cold. But works like a ripper once warm. No good for a winch truck though as they dont go fast enough for long enough generally.

from what I have seen a lot of the coil over set ups running in the winch comp type events have not a lot of travel at all.
I guess this is ok for the fast type events anyway but I would prefer to be able to just limit massive amounts of travel when needed. Maybe the ones I seen are not set up with the right configuration.

King are the way to go as Rohan can set them up to perfectly match your car, he has even gone to the states to do research on setups etc... Coilovers will make a big difference but a well setup coilover will make a huge difference if you are looking at spending that sort of coin you may as well get the set up right from the word go

Personally i think the decision should come down to what you can buy within your budget and which brand you can get the best after sales service with. Especially if you don't know what you're doing with them yourself.

We're fitting Racerunners to the Little mule over summer and i'm getting some for my 60 as well. Race runners have a variable velocity valve which allows them compensate the valving to the speed of the shock travel. Great for high speed and low speed racing.
