rolled car engine problems.
as most of you might know i turned my sierra over 2 days ago . found my main problem is that iv poped a engine mount out which has turned the eninge/ tranny a bit .
now i need to know how to pop it back in . sould i just shimmy it back in with a crow bar ? or should i be stickin a jack under it then trying to lower it back in straight ?
any other info would be awesome.
Cheers

Has it broke? Usually they brake easily not quite popping out. They are a rubber block under the shroud thing.
Block and tackle is easist to manuver it but a crow and jack should do it.

Support motor - then unbolt engine mount and repair. Personally i would just buy a new mount and fit it, as driving round with a known farked mount is really dumb. Swapping engine mounts on a zook is easy as.vicelore wrote:what looks broken on it ? is it the rubber bits on the inside ? would they be ok for me to atlast tempary drive it around. like to the mech shop.

ok well i just got it back in.
and the 1st drive ill do is straight to my local merchanic. ill tell him that the one in it atm looked a little dodgy and poped out.
but i need to drive it 600 meters down the street to get it there.
it lost allot of oil when it was on its side and the dip stick was fully gone.
iv just put 4.5 liters in it ( all i had at home ) how much should i be putting in ?
will it hurt it starting it with that much in her ?
Cheers guys,

Cheers guys,
In the motor, holy crap dude, slow down there. Did you look at teh evhicle specs for how much it takes or anything first? If there is too much oil, it will be aerated by the crank, and can even hydraulic your motor if you put way to much in. I think that the re-fill after a service is like 3.5 or 4 litres, so unless you drained the motor dry, you got way too much oil there. As for driving to the mecanic, yeah if your careful it will make it the 600m, but why not learn to do it yourself. If you going ot own a modified 4wd, and drive it hard. Its going to break. Learning to fix it might be the difference between getting home, and getting ar*e raped by a tow company.

well do i just check on the dip stick ?
it sounds allright when i tried to crank it over. just seems like it has no spark. maybey i pulled a cable off in the roll somewhere.

Check on dip stick yes. How else do you check your engines oil level?
Has it been run at all since it rolled over?

after iv put the new oil in iv prob tried twice to get it goin for about 20 seconds.
was thinking i sould get some oil goin in the engine again, just incase its dry. ( i really dont know anything about it.)

Motor should have 3.5 litres in it so way overfilled and can do damage. Engine mount DEFINITELY broken! haha..the two threaded sections should be inline so unless the picture is really deceiving i think its broken. I changed mine recently, new one was $25 and a 20min swap. May be a bit dodgy but I found the easiest way to replace is put a bottle jack on the axle tube with a flat bit of wood wedged under so it doesnt fall out and put a load leaf off a leaf pack along the lip of the sump where the bolts are and jack up from here. Be careful to check for stability though as you dont want a motor on your hand!

kk well iv drained some out of her now. the dip stick is reading right in the middle of the min max dots.
how would i tell if i have aerated by the crank or hydraulic my motor ( i take it that means the pistons become compressed and cannot complete a full cycle ??

Obviously, you have sorted it now, but the first thing to do once the car goes back onto its wheels is to pull the spark plugs and crank the engine over. This will push any oil that has run into the cylinders via the crankcase breather and in through an open valve. Also, make sure that you drain the oil out of the airbox and inlet hoses too.vicelore wrote:kk well iv drained some out of her now. the dip stick is reading right in the middle of the min max dots.

There is about 1l between the min and max marks on the dipstick. if you are halfway between the two marks, you are about 500ml low. No big deal.
Simply "hydraulic" (sometimes written "hydralock") is when too much liquid has entered the cylinder and the piston cannot compress the liquid (air compresses, liquid doesn't very much) any liquid, even petrol if there is enough of it, will cause hydraulic lock. This will lead, typically, to bent rods and can also bend the crank too.
Obviously, the damage is worse if the engine ingests water when it is spinning quickly, but it is possible to wreck a motor even by attempting to start it with a full cylinder.

I thought I remembered in an earlier thread Vicelore either asking about or being invited to contact the Vic Suzuki 4wd Club. Could be wrong.
This is one of those situations where a good club (from what i gather via Christover's posts, Vic Zook club is good) would be of great help. Had a fun drive, shit happened. If experienced members were not there then you would know who to call to come over and help YOU fix it. Everytime something needs to be done you or someone else can learn alot.
No offence Vicelore, I know how you feel, but there is a limit to how much help you can get via a web forum. This might be a good time to get to know some of the guys in the Zook club. It sounds like there are a few very knowledgeable Zookers down there. Most things are easier in person rather than via forum posts (also saves asking what might be a dumb question to everyone)

Back to the engine mounts: Don't forget to check the rear engine mount, at the rear of the gearbox, it may be partially broken also.
Also agree with earlier posts on oil level, 3.5L puts it exactly half way between the marks on the dipstick (I just did an oil change).

Wheeling on completely wicked angles, without even looking stable.
