Ignition!

Post by suzuki boy »

I went to turn the key and all the dash lights and stuff work but it just makes no noise at all!

Did it once before on the wombat trip but only once but now it's doing it all the time! :?

Is it a common problem or a lose wire or do i need a whole ne ignition barrel whats the go?

THANKS!

check starter motor, if it push starts easily then its not the coil.

your starter is probably screwed. Mine went not long ago, the bearing inside was siezed...if you do lots of mud and stuff then it could just be dirty. Pull it off and pull it apart....check all components and wd40 the whole thing and see how you go....

I do do alot of mud!

I'ts only been in for about 6 months! :?

So do i just pull it out and squirt the wd40 on thw little spline thing or pull the starter motor apart?(wouldn't have a clue how but i'll learn!)

Worth a go!

ANy one else?

Fair chance its the starter, but mine used to do this when the earth from the battery to the side of the block just under the starter came loose. Check the basics first before getting too carried away. Check power etc before pulling starter to just find a broken wire etc.

Not sure if its the same on 1.3 starters, but on my old 1litre the starter trigger wire came off the terminal a couple of times, it was only a push on connector so it just pushed back on. Might be worth checking (if its the same)
