tailgate window motor

Post by stumpjumper »

hi all.
just wounder if anybody can help with this problem.
the tailgate window in my 93 4runner sr5 is going up and down very slowly
then it stops half way, if i keep playing with the switch long enough i get a ticking sound then it might go up or down a little bit more.
i have cleaned out the guides and greased everythig, the motor gets realy hot after a few goes, so im thinking that the motor itself might be just about had it.
any help would be great.

Yeah I had the same problem with my 91 4runner and the price of a new motor is ridiculous. All i done was pulled out the rear window control box located in the rear passenger side of the car near the tail lights and removed the covers of the relays blew them out with compressed air then doused it in wd40. Havent had another problem with it yet.
