body lift blocks

anybody know what id and od i should use for my body blocks they will be either alumin or poly ones. im going two inches. and was think 12mm id and 50-75mm od. thanks chris. and has anybody done one on a bj73 and know what length bolts to get as i dont want to pull them out then go and try and get new ones. i wnat then all done first. amd what is better aluiminum or the poly type blocks. thanks chris

ID 12-13mm
OD 70mm

i just got some of the nylon ones for my hilux in these sizes....cant remember the ID exactly tho, I'm not too sure whether the nylon are better than alum or not...sorry

for my hilux i used 70mm od and 11mm id. M10 x 125mm high tensile bolts with nylock nuts. i use a product called acetal rod.

When I did a body lift on my Mav', I used a product called HDPE (high Density Polyethylene), available from any plastics manufacturer/distributor. I got mine in 75mm dia. rod.

It is very strong and so much easier to work than alluminium, alloy or steel.

yeah i thats what i was going to use the hdpe. but i might be able to get a mate to cnc me some at his work i just need the diemesions. i was think aliumin. but reckon i will go hdpe dont think it will be as hard on the body as the plastic.

also anybody done the body lkift on 73 series and if so what is there to watch out for so far all i can see battery earth cables. and what sort of price would i bee looking at to get me bull bar with whginch lifted. i would do it myself but with the winch i want to know in not going to take the bullbar of when whinching

If $$$ are a bit of a problem, use red poly boat trailer rollers. I bought 5x 5 inch rollers and cut them in half to give me the ten 2 1/2 inch lift blocks I needed. Cost, $11 each. They have a nice wide base which sits under the bodywork, spreads the load, and the narrower part fits the standard body rubbers close to perfectly. Already predrilled with a large hole that accepts the tube that most body mounts have attached to the washer/nut assembly. They survive the elements with no problems. I have run them under mine for over a year with no problems.

ruggers im lookin into a 2 inch lift kit for the 73 series will know soon... you will have to look at extending you fuel filler hose and droping your radiator too...even look at you diff breathers and air lines too... you might also find that the 4wd shifter might foul alittle thats all i have thort of as i plan on doin a 2 inch lift soon too... good luck

jake. with radiator i was thinks thermos but arnt sure but it only for holes to drill two inches lower to drop it. also the battey cables will need extending the one on the starter motor and earth on the battery to block. diff breathers i want to extend to into engine bay anyway. my airlines have enough flex to take two inch and havent yet got the rear locker so i will run enough cable i have heap lieing around. as for the shifter i guess i will have to wait and see what happens i can alway cut open the shifter hole

I reckin steel is the way to go. I've seen too many poly composites compress and warp.
