gu brakes vs twin piston gq brakes

Post by marko »

Can any body tell me if standard gu brakes are better than twin piston gq with slotted rotor and good pads. The reason I ask is because Im trying to find out if its worth just getting twin piston gq cailipars with slotted rotors($600-$700 for dba gold series)or spend a the extra and buy a whole gu diff ($1000- $1500 i think) I would get the gu if there better again. I use the car for off road racing so don't really need the bigger cv's.

Any info would be great

Not sure which are better. But have been told the 4.8 GU has bigger brakes than the others in the GU range.
If brake performance is really important. Theres some shops doing custom packages with some nice setups. Ontrack in East Kielor (vic) and I think ATS in Geelong are doing them.

6-700 be the time i buy calipars and dba gold sersies disc. R yours standard slotted disc or dba gold 4000 series. Do you have twin piston. R they any good?

I realize gu r twin piston, I want to know If stardard gu brakes are any better than upgraded gq brakes.
If they are I wil buy a whole gu diff

Go the GU, can't hurt having stronger CV's and they have a better turning circle.

i just got slotted because my pads are due soon so i thought i may as well change the discs while im at it.
yes the front of my GU is twin piston and they are average with the 35s and extra weight. i can still manage to lock up the fronts tho :D
also if your going to upgrade i would go to the GU 4.8ltr discs as they are bigger again aparently. i know the rears are 330mm
also look into braided lines as they help too. thats one of the things next on my list
