No-where for your chain driven case

Change the case to a gear driven case from a leafy and there are heaps available.

actually you can get them, just depends on what you want.

there are two choices, a 23% reduction on the Hi & Low (works on the chain)
or a 58% reduction on the Low only (works on the planetary gears)

yeh where do u get them from and im only going to use a max size of 31 inch tyres on it so it should be right

Even at 58%, 31's will most likley be margina, and you dont get teh high range reduction, making road driving a huge PITA. series 1 roc khoppers were at 83% in low and 12% in high, and that is about what is needed for 31's IMHO.

i was thinking of doing both reductions if possible and i seams like a hassle to change my t case to a older sierra

you can switch yes. but u need all the mounts and shafts to swap over etc

Is it a 1.3l or 1L

The transfer cases will change, you just need the mounts , driveshafts and possibly flanges of the earlier one.
Plenty of people on the board have swapped gear drive t-cases into coilys, search will reward you, or use the bible.

also i know nt has the handbrake on the t case do the wt ones have the same setup
my handbrake on my 98 is on the diff like mormal cars

Swappable over. take the bits of the NT case. u will prob have to swap the flanges off anyway. reconnect the coil handbrake normal way.

WT handbrake is on rear drums. What do you want to use the rig for. On 31's to be usable on the road, you would want a high range reduction of about 12%, and offroad about 80% (IMHO, im sure that people will disagree). Where did you get your infomation that every bolt and mount will need to be modified or welded. Heaps of people have done this mod, and from memory its not a massive fabrication fest.

im going to put 31s on it and i use it for alot of different terrains mud sand dunes etcm i just wasnt keen on doing it if there was to much modification involved, and the ratios u mentioned are the ones i was going to get

leafy gear driven case will bolt straight in using the mounts for the leafy and the leafy jack shaft. and you can get crawler gears to sui what ever you want to drive.

and the transfer handbreak will bolt on the back of the wide track leafy case. thats the setup i have because the diff is to close to the fuel tank.

I bought a 2001 Jimny soft top in January and just installed the
Trial Jimny gear reduction to the T case.
$1200 delivered to Queensland but the install is simple, remove the case open it up, remove the 2 gears and install the new ones. In low range it's great crawls along at idle from start up hill heaps of grunt when you put your foot down on steep slippery hills. After burning out a clutch at Cityview it's a god send. In high range you get the same reduction about 24% and low down power is great in 5th gear at 100klm it's doing a bit of reving (about 4500) but the low down is worth it.
I'm running 235/75R15(30's) Nexen MT's, 2" sus lift and 2" body lift no rubbing and heaps of power, before the gears it was gutless in all gears unless you were ringing it's neck.

Will give Cityview a run again this weekend and see how she goes!!
