I did a bit of research on the net for a disc style park/handbrake. Not really much available for the landcruiser, and with the one that I found I saw a few reports that they were not very reliable. There is one for hilux/surf that apparently works well, but I think adapting it to a cruiser would be a bit too much stuffing around.

I think the biggest problem with making your own is getting a reliable mechanical disc caliper.

I am organising a rear disc conversion for a 60 series, and have decided to use the 47 series style drum on the rear of the transfer case. You dont need the whole case, just the output shaft, the output bearing housing, and the brake drum from a 47 t/case assembly. (however if you can get the whole t/case for the right price, grab it) The hand brake assembly is that same on an early transfer case (which should be readily available, and easy to find). It is possible to buy new aftermarket output shafts and handbrake drums, dont know about the bearing housings. The early and late handbrake drums are different, early have a coarse spline 10 I think?, later a fine.

Or you can just buy a Marks kit which will set you back around $600. either way, you will still need to have your drive shaft cut and rebalanced.

hope this helps
