looking at buying one of these mig welders for home.
for general hanyman / fabrication from time to time , a few repairs on my truck.
i use a mig at work , so i would like to have one for home!
i dont want to pay huge dollars for one.

Any advise would be great

dont know much about that welder, but how much is it going for?

the unimig porto mig 200 looks a lot better for doing fabrication

just bought the uni mig 200 porto and love it used it on the weekend for the first time and once you get used to the settings it is as easy as just point and shoot

i also have the porta mig 200 had it for about 12 months its a great mig easy to use havent had a drama with it
GQ LWB TD42, boost, lockers etc

I have the Uni-Mig 172 welder you are looking at. Have had it for about 3 and half years and have not had a single problem with it.

Is good for light and general welding up to about 5 or 6mm max. I built the tray for my old Landcruiser Ute with it and had it on flat out for most of the job.

If you do buy it do yourself a favour and convert it to gas. You will get a nicer, cleaner weld.

If I was to buy another mig I would probably get a 200 or 220amp. I bought the 172 because it was at the right price and it has done everything I have wanted, but don't expect to be able to do huge, deep penetration welds on thick steel with it. As long as you know it's limitations it is a great little welder.

i got mine from bursons and i know all tools sell them also
