Post by ROGQ »

i got a water pump on a gq and its leaking coolant out at the bottom... i changed the gasket but this didn't fix the problem... at the bottom of the pump housing the is a little bout 3mm hole... looks like a breather or something.. it is the only place it could be leaking from.. what is this hole 4? can i just silicone it up?

You need a new water pump. The hole is the to alert you to the fact that the front seal on the water pump is leaking. It also acts as a drain so as the coolant doesn't stuff the bearing in the front of the pump, which is exactly what will happen if you silicone the hole.
