Mate done a good one like that asweel just stock corrola ke70 auto (i think) ute was off the road for a bit so it was rig the kit up on the paddock basher went good at around 75 shot ended up getting board with the 75 so they ran a small drill bit down the jet so it was as good as solioids would flow about 160 didn't last long split no 3 piston in half next time that pot fired it lit the fuel nos and some oil in sump and lifted rocker cover off it i'll try get the vid of his phone and post it up. it pulled a wicked skid.

My conversion is not done yet but it is my intention to run dual fuel.
There are some threads on http://www.lextreme.com/ with guys running LPG and saying all is good.

After somewhere around 40 tanks you would have saved enough money to buy a new engine (should there be any valve issues.... which I doubt).

How much is the conversion going to set you back are is your existing gas converter fine for the v8?

Mate….. I will be able to tell you how much my conversion will set me back when I am finished. My attitude is to get it right not skimp on $$ (within reason offcourse). I think between $6,000 and $8,000 but I am also converting to an auto and going all out with cooling the engine and box.
I am told my current mixer will be more than adequate for the 4lt (it was oversized for the V6). Sorry…… can’t tell you what size it is as I do not have my car near by.

Try to keep at least one wheel on the ground at all times !!!!!! (unless you want to do a jump....... thats different)
I spoke to a bloke about LPGing my 1uz and he said $4k and the system would be very similar to the one they use on the V8 cruisers, which is gas injection suppose to run litre for litre very similar to Petrol which would be around 14l/100km so it would cost about $7 (at 50c/L give or take) to travel 100km at that price I'm still considering it as it heaps better then the current $18/100km (at $1.30/L Premo)
It would still be dual fuel they change the injectors to some flash gas/fuel ones and sort out all the computer side of it
This bloke also said that I would get better power and a fair bit more low down torque. don't know if he was pulling my leg or not but he sure got my attention with that comment

I wonder if it is true about the low down torque. $4k less the rebate is still value but gas prices are a bit more than 50cents..... you can pay more, especially away from city centres (I have paid 69cents… the most ever).
But still currently good value when you think about how much stays in your pocket every time you fill up .
Just a tip…… Hot air balloon places can usually fill you up .
I am planning on running my old system (225 mixer). We will see how it goes.

there has been issues with the 2UZ in the Landcruiser using the old style mixers. Backfiring on startup has caused catastrophic damage. I was looking at buying a V8 and started a couple of threads for info and found several cases (firsthand, not a "friend of a cobbers brother etc")
The go is to use the newer "Sequential Injection" system which are multipoint injected, but also automatically start on petrol and switch over after a short period and avoid the backfires. Costs about $4000 and then you get the rebate off. Or move to WA and it is almost free! ($3000 rebate I think)

I feel I have sorted out a lot of the problems with my setup after years on the V6. I have been able to overcome backfiring issues.
Will see how it goes on the 1UZ....... If it is not up to scratch I will upgrade. Won’t need to buy the whole kit.

I recently got my 4runner converted so hopefully the converter will suit too.
Im planning (if i go ahead) to keep mine manual so costs might be a little less then urs im assumming.
Anyone know what price you can fetch for the V6?
yeah new rodeo's have this set up just food for thought is use one of thoes v6's don't know what they'd cost i'd asume a bit as they aren't that old yet but are coil on plug look reasonably compact don't know what power specs are either. but seam to go alright from the one's i've driven

Ever since going to 35's my fuel usage has been crap.
I only just get 20l/100km if I take it easy around town, and thats with 35's and 4.8's centres. When I first did the converion it was more like 16l/100km. (33's, 4.3s)
Best ever was the trip to Tuff Truck a couple years ago, got 13l/100km with 33's and stock 4.3 ratios.

Another issue with air valve mixers on 2uz engines is overreving the engine. Sequential gas injection fixes this though......
I don't know why yours is so bad on fuel mine ran 16l/100km with 700(ish)kg of (empty)car float behind it (23l/100km with an MU and 4 38's on the trailer not very good eh) on the weekend (newy to Brisvegas) and normally runs 14 around town and 11-12 on the highway, I've got 255/85R16 (34's) and 4.3 centresTWISTY wrote:Ever since going to 35's my fuel usage has been crap.

Jeez, yours is doing great!!! Maybe the 35's were just a coincidence on mine, and there is something else going on. have you done a diagnostics/faults check yet? that should tell if anything is wrong.
