UHF killed CD player

Post by Ric »

I have just installed a tx3200 in the slot below my CD player, everytime i press the PTT button, the CD player stops playing. Happens on both radio and playing a CD. I haave been fiddling around with it and the player will now not turn on. No fuses are blown. What has happened? If i buy another head unit will it keep happening?

What Power lead did you connect the UHF to?

I had all sorts of problems with my phone lit and CB and all being run off my accessories wire as it's only 10.5v.

MAybee when transmiting the CB was drawing too much>>>

is the uhf on top or below the cd player ? if so it could be heat causing the problem and not enough air getting arond the head uint that was the problem with mine moved the uhf and fixed the problem.

Did you use a bracket that holds the two items together? If so maybe the screws in the cd were too deep and touch the circuit board?

ok found problem, when i used PTT, the volt meter on the car would rise, only possible explanation was the ariel was earthing. the core of the coax was sticking out, cut it back and problem is all fixed. :)
thanks everyone for their input.
