just saw my 1st new four door wrangler on the back of a truck the other day well my 1st and 2nd (two on the one truck) both hard tops one red one green waiting to see one at the local dealers soon i hope

anyone have info on the internal dimensions on the 4 door, or the specs on the diesel????

Seriously considering purchasing one mid this year but trying to find out how big the rear cargo space is and whether the diesel is worth the 4k premium.

I'm considering it alongside a new navara/ triton/ hilux and trying to see how it stacks up (obviously better offroad but what about luggage space)

im not exactly sure Mick, but I have been told from a DC employee it has the same wheelbase as a grand cherokee. I suume then similair space.

Went in to my local jeep dealer today to have a look but wont be in stock for another 2 weeks.

I love the sound of a 4 door rubicon but Im pissed rubicon is v6 only.No t/d option but Im going to wait for a drive.

Went to the motor show yesterday and the 4 door is awsome!

I have grown up with jeeps and we wheeled our wrangler for ages with 4 of us! :shock: The 4 has pretty much the same room every where as the xj but looks sh!t loads better! :cool:

The rubicon(not sure but i know it's one of them!) comes out with 32's on it and lockers and sway bar disco's! :cool:

VERY NICE LOOKING 4X4! My dads the pres of the melbourne jeep owners club and one of members works at jeep and yesterday he was flat out with people asking about the new wrangler! :cool: I think our club will have a fair few when they come on the market! ;)

I'm hoping to get one of the 4 door Rubicons this year if I can wrangle (excuse the pun) the finances, otherwise next year for sure

I drove one all day Sunday and I cant tell you how well these things drive. I reckon its partly cause its a new Jeep with better componentry (obviously) but I also reckon it has a lot to do with the longer and wider wheel base. I cant wait to try a 2 door so I can compare the two..

I can't believe no deisel option in the Rubicon!! The car is fully set up for decent off road trecks then they limit it by having petrol only. Don't get me wrong, petrol motors drive nicer (IMO), but need LPG to afford driving one. I don't see much room for LPG tanks under the new wrangler.

Maybe if enough of us whinge to Jeep, they may change the line-up to include diesel onthe rubicon.

ive told them id only put a deposit down when they start offering the rubicon in a diesel.......tell them, let them know theres a market.

Test drove one on the weekend, very nice (was the Sport 4 Door V6).

There's (supposedly) only 1 litre/100km difference between the Diesel and the Petrol though, the petrol's a nice engine.

Although, the thought of a peak torque band from 2,000-2,600 on the Diesel makes my mouth water! :)

Had a look over the (Very) Limited 4door yesterday and have got to say was disappointed.
1. fuel tank hangs down below chassis reducing clearance.
2.Very short control arms on rear, and front ones don't look to strong.
3. Side carpet in load area fell out when I bumped it. Now I don't think it was fitted properly, but it didn't look like it belonged in a $40 000 dollar car.
4. Was also not to impressed with how close my head was to the over head speaks in the rear seat.

TassieTroll, There's a two month waiting list for the Diesel, so I bet the salesman was spinning you a line about the 1ltr difference in fuel economy. Got to sell all those unwonted V6 auto's.

On the Plus side, the Aussie dollar is still improving against the US. With further discounting it will be easier to over look the above faults.

Hi Guys,

My wife and i picked up our Unlimited petrol manual last week, So far we have been very happy with it. Only been on the bitumin so far but are really loving it. It's red and we just had the window tinted and looks so much better. We are planning to raise it abit, but will be sticking with about 31-32 tyres. I recon we'd loose to much use for the 6th gear going any bigger without doing something for more power or lowering the gears. The Plastic scratches real easy inside, but we bought it to enjoy not as an investment, its gonna get scratched on the outside eventually anyhow so the inside may as well match. We plan on doing a few things to it but that will be getting done over time not all at once. F/R bumpers need changing for sure, Lift, Tyres and whatever else we find needs sorting out as we go. Rather see what needs fixing first instead of buy what people are trying to sell. But we have two other 4x4's so we in no real rush.

Took a Rubicon Unlimited for a test drive on Saturday. Like the way it drove and handled, it had the soft top on and there was very little noise. The auto dropped back very easily sending the tacho in to the red but that may have more to do with the driver.
Found the driving position very unusual. When I set the seat the usual distance from the steering wheel I could not reach the accelerator, the brake was OK. There must be about 5 inches difference in pedal height. Is this the norm for Yank cars ?
Hope to drive a manual diesel later this week.

Patzuki, I'll check the fuel econemy on the trip computer, but it's about 12L to 100km.
We have found the pedals to be abit strange too, the accelerator is quite abit more forwards than the brakes which feels wrong but we are getting used to it. I have driven current model Suburbans (US models), they mostly have adjustable pedals but still don't have the huge difference between the brake and Accelerator. There are many things on the whole car that seem agricultural but we didn't buy it wanting a limosine. This is our first jeep of this style (we have a full size Jeep also) so really have nothing to compare it with, but are growing more happy with it each time we drive it. Still need to get it offroad though, other commitments have held us back from that since we bought it.

Just checked the trip computer and we are getting 11.9L per 100km (normal day to day running around). The accelerator is elecrtonic and looks like it can be easily spaced out abit to make the pedals sit more inline. I also tried to fit up my 15" rim but the rims are different stud patterns so i'm still not sure if 15" rims would go on. (that was something i had asked about in another post).

considering trading my 80 series in on a swb rubicon. went to the dealer today said it would be 3 months before he could get any in as there are huge dealys getting them in the country. he also didn't seem to know much about the car.

i noticed the rubicon has only1 dash switch for difflocks. so is it both or nothing??

The diff lock button is for both lokkas. Press once for front and twice for both lokkas. I took one hard wheelin on the weekend and I was very impressed. Crawled around real well.

Hey Tee Jay, does that meen you cannot lock the rear only? That sounds a bit disappointing to me. Even if you cannot, I bet someone will find to change that.
Wheeling on completely wicked angles, without even looking stable.

I read an article in JpMagazine that they have a way around it by stuffing around with the wiring.
