87' duel cab hilux, anyone want to share stories :P

Post by CHIEF88 »

Just wondering if anyone has the same car ?
87' hilux, duel cab, 4y engine

Main question is what the fuel consumption is like ?
Seems mines pretty poor but ive put that down to it being original engine with poor manifold, well i like to think thats why cause i
wanna put a new engine in it.
I seem to get between 6 and 7.5 kms/ltr... is this bad ? from what ive heard it is.

also considering painting it white  20cans of spray or a proper gun ?

Mate, finally someone with my economy!!!!!!!

I just put in a 4y about 8 months ago, she is better on fuel than the 3y was, but the most i have got from the tank is only 270 ks, and thats babying the thing! the worst i have had was 180 ks from $75 of fuel.

the economy is even worse now that it dosen't have a snorkel. I HAVE changed everything, including brand new carby.
YN65 X-Tra cab, 33's, 3" body lift otherwise stock. (the brumby got stolen)

50 litre tank ? mines only a 40 litre and i get around the 250 mark :P "babying it" as you say lol

does the snorkel make that much of a difference to economy does it ?
I dont have a snorkel yet but will in a few weeks would be good to see an increase

but yeh, mines had a few heavy services as well.
I think this must be normal for a 4y i havent read what they are rated at so i dont know but sounds like it,
wonder if age makes a diff, how many kms urs done ? mines nearing 400k :(
Have you only ever used the 4y with ur 33's ? wonder if that makes a diff.

My 4Y (4Runner, 89) gets about 20L/100km. about 230 from a tank.

Coming out as soon as I can afford it. 3RZ going in.

Tires are like boobs, they always look big until you have played with them for a while, then you just want a bigger set
