60 series Suspension questions:
Hi there all
I have been doing a little research on suspension options for the 60 series cruiser (1986 12ht).
Well I would like to pose a question to the forum:
"There are many brands out there whom sell suspension kits ARB, Iron Man, TJM and many more, taking this all into consideration and we all want good value for money spent "what do you recomend and why".
Thanks in advance.
Wayne

coils have more travel. I've got EFS leafs on mine about 1.5 inch taller than normal with standard shackles.
got one leaf almost completely flat once which i thought was great flex. but didn't have a camera at the time. rides better on the road then most 60s i've driven too.

At first I thought it was a sea anemone, upon closer inspection I realised it was a funky ball of tits from outer space.
flex
Don't be fooled into thinking a coily will out flex leaves!! If you know how to set up your leaf packs and shocks you will out flex a coil vehicle easilly and only have to spend half as much money.

Both, and an off the shelf bolt on kit will not have much extra travel for a 60 over a standard car.
Soft leaves, long travel shocks with properly set-up mounts and plenty of trial and error are the go. And no swaybard I set-up a mates 60 ages ago, used a custom spring pack made from a few old pack lying round, and some OME shocks (cant remember part number or specs, this is a while ago). With some longer shackles, it could droop a 33 out in the front enough to have your foot on the top of the tyre in the front, and still have 100mm to the lip on the guard, whilst the other tyre was on the bumpstop and har up in the wheel well. Rear was similar. Cost a total of 1 day buggering round, and probably $500 in parts.

longer and flatter springs the more they curve upwards the less flex they have from what ive learnt and also might pay to move the shackle mount forqrd so it gives the shackle abut a 45 degree angle so the shackle can move up but also drop gives you more drop this was done on my mates mq patrol a made a decent difference
