Gearbox Oil Leak LT230T and LT85
I have just had my LT85 Gearbox rebuilt and new seals fitted to the LT230 transfer box as it was leaking big time.
Unforunately I still have a leak that shows up after as little as 20 km's.
Most of the oil is coming from the Transfer case, but a little is from the gearbox. The leak shows up on the mating faces between the gearbox and transfer case (input side of the transfer case).
As all the seals are new is this a sign that the job has been botched or could it be caused by a blocked breather ?
Any other ideas ?

What KB said - best way is to slide the seal over the mainshaft, line the t-case up, then fit the seal just before the t-case is mated to the box.KiwiBacon wrote:It's easy to screw up the input seal when you're bolting the T-case back to the gearbox.

Well, you should be careful because if you are NOT in-line between the transfer case & the transmission the output shaft of the transmission will damage the seal again.
The best is to use a transmission lift so you can know all the time that you stays in-line. Or to be vary vary careful at the matching.

as an aside I'd wager it is actually leaking from the intermediate gear shaft
there are 2 o rings that i've in and allow the oil oil
I put RTV over the end to stop it
