There is an advisory committee that has been established to review future use for the the Teewah Beach area, found what I understand called the North Shore Action Group (supposed to have close ties with the state govt and basically green movement)
In breif terms the plan is to reduce the entire 75 mile beach etc to 15 kph YES 15 KPH and charge $35 for a permit that will cover 1 week. Therefore a day trip costing $35.
What really annoys me is there has been abolutely no consultation with the user groups that have the main useage of the beach. This is an absolute joke and we are looking hard at the local and state aurthorities and asking them serious questions regarding it. I'll post info as it comers to hand but I would query your local members regarding this crock of sh*t.

Yeah I wonder if the money will go back into maintenance etc. The thing that annoyed me the most is they have not yet consulted the major user groups - 4wders. Typical. Same as the closure of Hook point. In fact that decision was a spur of the moment knee jerk reaction to sway another minority group (greenies). In fact the local Police are far from happy about the use of the inland rd and the closure of hook point. They said it's a disaster in the making. Again no real consultation. they've been talking about brining in permits for the last 20yrs 
but it never happens. they also want to drop the speed down to 50kmh all the way. in the next yr or so the road from 1st to 2nd cutting is getting sealed and then they are going to close that streach of beach off to vehcles so kids from the caravan park dont get hit by cars

I live in Noosa here & that's the first I've heard of 15kph 
, I think you meant 50kph which 'was' mentioned.
They have a few thoughts on which way they want to go with permits/fees for driving on the beach (I don't recall anything in the vacinity of $35 a day either) & personally I think it's a good idea so long as we see the money going some where constructive.
The amount of cars heading past my house over the past 2 weeks (especially Easter long weekend) is bullsh!t
. So many w@nkers seem to make their way over there too so hopefully this will keep a couple of the tools away .
Come June Teewah will be closed from the 1st to the 3rd cutting which is no biggy really though the corrugated, dusty track that follows the beach inland will need some attention.

Where does the money go from the $35 Fraser vehicle service permit - certainly not into maintenance of the inland road.
You wont see the money spent on facilities, the whole idea of the permit is to discourage visitors........
I agree that it might keep some of the tools away, then again, plenty of tools go to Fraser also.

We were there last weekend camping at freshwater as for the limits the inland track is 20km according to the rangers, beach is signed at 50km and funly enough theres a sign on the beach access track from freshwater that says 80km. There was no mention of a drop in speed limits anywhere but if its going to be dropped to 15km perhaps the party rcommending this and the permits can provide a couple of recovery vehicles on the solid side of the tracks.
I think the permits are a good idea to assist in getting rid of the environmental hoons, for instance, beer cans discarded in the tracks, smashed bottles, loud stero's in the early morning. ( When I say environment I mean my environment, I enjoy escaping the city and many of its twits)
Where the money goes is important, it needs to be administrated to repair or make good the 4x4 and camping areas as we would be the only contributors, I can't see mrs and mr average paying a little additional on their rates to provide these facilities.
Those of us who do responsibly camp and 4x4 all know that we enjoy our environment and preservation of this is instrumental to our next trip, as for comments about the greens lets let them do what their best at, saving Whales, Dolphins and Seals. We simply want to enjoy our selves.
For now the suggestion of permits and speed limits sounds like a person with nothing better to do with their time than irritate a small community of enthusiasts.

$35 is a bit steep I think for a couple of hours drive up the beach, would only be good if you were planning to hang around the area but I don't know how many people would hang around the area for a full week.
Also the price would kill off all the fishing etc done along there and I suppose a camping fee would be charged as well over time?
Fraser IS I think would be worth the money to go as you'd want to hang around for a little while 2-3 days at least, you know make it worth your money to go there.
Its the tool factor that stopped us camping there. Too many for our kids to play safely. We have been going there for the last 19 years and the amount of numnuts seem to get bigger every year. $35 is pretty steep but it it reduces the amount of tools and is put back into the area than it can only be a good thing. Day, week & month passes Should be used to accomodate everyone from day trippers to people like me that usally stay for a week or more. As far back as I can remember, there. have been permits required for camping.

im thinking the part just as you come on the beach that goes underwater all the time might need some attention also. i dont see why they cant just close the 1st cutting if needed and start from the 2nd.

$35 is steep! but (as said ) there is that many w...kers up there that drive with a belly full (yeah have a few but don't drive like a tosser) and well over the speed limit that stuff it for everyone. my folks have a shack at teewah township, and it is not uncommon to hear of or see people blasting down the beach day and night and hit hidden (still exposed) coffee rock, or even a soft patch of sand and roll or simply smash their cars.
50km would be a good speed due to these people, and the fact that on the beach it is hard to hear cars coming down the beach - especially for kids. but yes this will be a pain in the but when you drive from the cuttings to D.I.

I'll double check the proposed speed limit. A mate of mine liases with the govt on these issues. I said at first was he sure it wasn;t 50kph, not 15k[h but i was assured it was. As I said i'll double check.
It seems the general concensus is that most people are happy to pay the $35. I am still not. The govt does nothing towards 4wding as a recreation except close tracks and forests. Yeah for all the permits etc we pay for fraser they close more and more tracks. Thanks for cleaning up our beaches for free, now we'll shut some more tracks. Of course there will no benefit seen for the $35 bucks. Again it's a minority group that has it's own long term interests that will get it's own way - again. $35 is steep to go up the beach for a drive. Thats one of the reasons our club stopped going to the Clean Up Fraser weekends, organised by 4WDQLD, because the rangers were only too happy to have us drive all the way down, and let us do their job for them, cleaning up the island, yet were unwilling to give us an extra night camping permit for free.

Coming back from Fraser we came down the beach after dark. We sat on the "speed limit" and were overtaken by a steady stream of traffic. If they sent Mr Plod out there with a radar gun they could probably raise more revenue from speeders than a $35/week access fee.
