Dynamat Extreme - Any Good

Post by sootygu »

Looking at sound/heat proofing the GU and was wondering if this stuff is worth the money.

Has anyone used it and does it make a noticable difference.

dynamat is a bit exxy for general soundproofing. it is really good and is used by car audio enthusiasts all over the world. i would use it on door panels and so on but for the floor i would look at that bitumen style sound deadener.. easier to cut and isnt as messy oh and cheaper for large areas.

not sure how much but also jaycar has sound proofing for the doors etc and remember all deadening adds weight.

I have used the bitumen/felt stuff before and IMOP it isn’t the greatest around. Also the thickness can be a problem in some areas.

I know the Dynamat is pricy but don’t mind if the end result is good.

Are there other products that will do a good job but better priced???

I got one of the large packs of dynamat extreme, sound deadened both front door (outside and inside skin) and should have enough left over to do the footwells in my GQ, it isn't messy to use, just cut it,heat it up a bit with a heat gun and stick it on. I used it more for sealing up the doors for better stereo sound, but it did cut the road noise down a fair bit aswell.

Stupid ebay always changes the search from "fatmat" to "fatmax" (stanleys range of tools).
