LTB Swampers VS Simex centerpedes

Post by bundyrules »

The LTB swampers in a 34 are $280 new and the simex centerpedes in a 35 are over $400.

Are the centrepedes that much better??

Any opinions?

LTB's are a good tyre, but the real comparison is between a Q78 swamper and the 35" 'pede. The Q78 is about 10.5X35.5, 6 ply so it is very flexible. They are only just over the $300 mark from memory. they are about .75" taller than a 35 'pede and are happy on a 6.5-7.5" rim (beadlocked 6 or 7)

I am not into 'pedes at all. IMHO they are a comp tyre and work really well in those conditions - mud, lots of throttle. They are stiff and tend to fall off rims without beadlocks for what I have seen.

For recreational use, my money is on the swamper everytime. Dad and I have run swampers since 1991 and I wouldn't run anything else.

LTB's have lots of natural rubber in the compound. I probably wouldn't recommend them on a heavy car (but thats also because I think they are a bit too small for a heavy car) but they are sticky.

I run 36 12.5 SX's on my 2500kg Gwagen and 34's on my zook. the old Q78's I ran on my merc will be going on the zook too.

Whereabouts can you get the LTB in 34" for $280? That sounds like a great price for a reasonably sized aggressive tyre.

just checking my price list and the LTB 34x10.5 15 does retail for $280.
but the OD is listed as only 33.6, so it will only suit smaller applications.
If you're after a Hilux tyre, it would be great..........
As a comparison, the Q78 15 retails for $400.
PS.......LTB 34's are not in stock ATM...to order takes about 4 wks.

I run LTB's on my Defender and love them.......I ran JT2's before these and the swamper has them covered in everything except slippery clay type shit....And since we are in drought who cares about Simex...

There not as noisy as a Simex but they do wear quicker..
