1UZ-FE auto in a Hilux fuel consumption info

Post by ricduza »

I'm in the early throws of doing a 1UZ conversion in my 94 Hilux 4by and have recently bought a R150f box to fit it to. However, every time I drive a manual for a day or so lately, I find I wish it was auto. First sign of getting old I guess. So, I've spent about 6 hours yesterday searching the forums for info on an auto swap and I think it could actually be a cheaper conversion than the manual swap.

I am a little worried though that fuel consumption may go out the window and acceleration may also suffer. My old Navara with Commodore V6 and auto has always had appalling fuel consumption and only average performance. I don't want to make the same mistake again. If anyone has done this auto conversion I would be happy to hear your fuel consumption figures and your thoughts on the auto setup. I know from these forums the manual seems to get around 13-15lts per 100 ks, but no reports about an auto.
