3.0LT EFI PETROL LIFE EXPACTANCY
hi there what sort of life would you excpect out of a 3.0lt petrol efi out of a 99 trition gxl and what the engines like??
cheers Blake

It's the same as the 24V 3.0 litre Magna V6. The bottom end is basically the same as ALL Mitsubishi 3.0 litre V6 engines - Magna, Pajero, Challenger, Triton, even the 3000GT twin turbo.
They rev nicely, make reasonable power, not the most fuel efficient of engines. Examples have been know to last past 400k km, although I don't think that's common. Mine 12V Pajero engine is at 150k km, and showing NO signs of wear problems. I wish it would die, so I could drop in a DiD...

They are a pretty under stressed engine and should be more than strong enough for the average punter,
Driveline appears (after my abuse) to be very strong, perhaps not patrol strong but ample for most, the LSD's are tops too.
Hope that helps
I have both outdriven and been outdriven by hilux's, driver attitude and skill play the biggest role in the DC ute fraternity me thinks.
I wish my lawn was EMO, then it would cut itself...
99 dual cab work truck. 3.0 petrol.
230,000ks and still going strong. Its like most units, how much fuel you use depends on how heavy your foot is.
Its done all the sand from North Straddie to Rules beach. Out past Cunnamulla blowing away feral animals. Havent been bogged yet.
Although the last trip to Moreton is going to cost me a new clutch.
But thats what you get when you use them like you should.
Done everything that my old 76 Cruiser ute did. And in more comfort.
Just keep the services up to it. The ones every 100,000 can make a hole in your wallet but its worth it. Anyway ,all the other makes need the same.
Go for it.

It dose leak a bit. But Mitsu engines are designed to use some oil.
I buy 5 litres for an oil change and am left with about 0.7 litres and will probley add another litre before the next oil change. now 270 000ks on clock.
It blows a little blue smoke first thing when cold.

I think, they are a pretty strong engine, my Paj has 326.000km I only change valve seals once at 306.000km, I change oil and filter every 3500km and runs really well
