Lifting A TD42 motor out

Having abit of trouble finding something that will lift my motor out damm 6inch lift and 35's. Have rang a few places and there engine cranes arnt high enough to clear the body. Have thought about removing front wheels but doing this i think would make it rather difficult lifting it out becuase of the angle. Has anyone pulled one of these motors out of a lifted patrol any ideas would be appreciated. Also had the thought of using my neighbours backhoe and putting the chain on the lifiting lugs???

you could pull coils out, Ive seen them done by pulling out the tyre valve out

trying to do it without pullung anymore shite of it just means more you have to put back on

Can't you just let the air out of all 4 tyres? Wouldn't this drop the whole car 6 inches or so? Once the engine is out you could just air them up again and continue working on any other part of the vehicle.

Dont hire an engine crane, hire a forklift. Easy. anything rated 1 tonne or above will do it.

yes mate im pulling my motor out as we speek and its got 6inc lift with 2inc body lift and i put sum smaller tyres on the front and left the 35inc on the back so the front was lower and it work fine so try that or you can use a block and tackle and that will work good luck

Well i pulled mine out on easter monday, two big a-frames either side with a beam across the middle. Took about 2-3hrs from scratch to packed up

I pulled mine out with a standard engine crane, short rop, on the 500kg setting. That is with 5" lift, and 35's. pulled the valve cores out of the front tyres.
managed to do it without even taking the bonnet off!!

hi mate i have pulled the coils out before its the easiest way to do that it should take 20mins tops and the body will sit on the bump stop good luck cheers

we pulled out an RD28 and refitted a TD42 in a GU 6" lift and 35s, engine crane picked it up, and we let all the air out of the tires, worked a treat for us, should work well for you too,

When i lifted the engine out of my GQ for the rebuild, i cut up a piece of box section with heavy duty eyebolt at both ends and one in the middle. The 2 eyebolts connected to the engine lifting rings and the one in the center hooked to my engine cranes swiveling hook. With my 35's and lift, the sump just cleared the top part of the radiator panel when lifting out with the crane on its most extended setting.

How did you go with bonnet clearance? Mine was very close, but made it ok.

yeh thanks fellas got it out today using backhoe was the easiest option

[I ended up having to remove the bonnet--the biggest problem was crane boom hitting the carport roof. I let a small amount of air out of the front tyres so the sump would clear the bonnet latch. Front of truck came up a fair bit as engine weight came off the front springs. I also put larger dolly wheels on my engine hoist which helped. But the engine is veeery heavy--crane made lots of creaks and groans as i hoisted the engine out.
