Hey there,
Yeah I had a cheaper airflow snorkel on my old NA Pajero- although it was from an 80 series Landcruiser (looked a bit unusual) but it certainly did the job. I currently have a Safari Snorkel on my NG Pajero which is also fine, just $150 more expensive. I also plan on fitting a snorkel to my Suzuki Sierra, and I am contemplating fitting an Airflow snorkel as opposed to a Safari snorkel... just something for you to think about!

I had a Airflow snorkel on my 2nd 4wd (a hilux) years ago & it done the job. The finish quality isn't quite as neat as your more popular Air-tech/Safari snorkels but cheaper & it works.

if you want one for air flow get a safari top for it or cut out half the vertical bits at the front of it. they dont flow very well with the standard heads on them. other than that they are good

Why cut out the "slats" arent they designed to help prevent ingestion of water in rain and the like?

Funny you say that about the Airflow Rams, they have been tested to be the MOST efficient!
I agree the product is not quite as 'polished' as the Safari, but they are excellent value.

If they are the ones I'm thinking about, I find it hard to believe an opening with large sized plastic slats perpendicular to the direction of airflow can make is more efficient than the mesh/cross type heads.

You would have to be naive to believe that the style of ram cover, be it slats or mesh makes any discernable difference, what really counts is what happens when the rammed air hits the back throat of the ram bend.

If you want the test results ring Airflow, & anyone with Airtek rounded rams, guess what, they were a distant last in efficiency.

Also anyone that thinks that they can physically feel the power difference by changing the ram, have got their hand firmly planted on it!

if anyone has fitted an AIRFLOW snorkle please tell me what you use'd to seal the joints. all the shit i've used has fallen off, and i mean fallen off. i've tried three differnet types of sealant/silcone and i'm not going anywhere near deep water until i reseal it with something good. all the sealants just peal off, goes on good but no way could i say that it even looks like holding, i could take my snorkle off now and there would be no silcone stuck to it at all... i even roughed it up abit with a wire brush and some 36grit sandpaper

sikaflex-marine sealant - worst
sellys gutter seal - bad
and some roofing silcone a mate gave me - not good

I have fitted a few Air techs n they are by far the worst fitting snorkles, I would recomend Safari as the best fitting n most structural

Actually if you must quote me, please be accurate, I said there would be no discernable difference between the mesh screen or slats on the front of the ram, ie: the bird filter!

I also said that nobody would physically feel the power difference between rams, that certainly doesn't mean that they couldn't vary in efficiency.

i never once compared airflow to airtec.
airtec are sh1t every one knows that.

you would be beyond niave to believe what a company tells you about there own results about there own products.
yes you can feel the difference. i know this for a fact

if you wish to continue to argue show us dyno graphs or flow chart comparisons not bulsh1t fed to you by the supplier of the product

I have absolutely nothing to gain from all this, as you would have no reason to try to prove to me that the difference between 2 rams can be FELT ... lol
