I heard through the grape vine that the Dirt Track Cowboy's from QLD are carring a fair bit of speed out of their Old Coal Burner this year. The truck's looking pretty mean at the moment of what I've seen of it at the shop. It looks lower and wider and even a lot lighter. One to watch out for i guess????

Yep that was the one. Was very well handled by you. And that was the best thing to do. And having the rules was handy for us all. And yes we where wrong.
I come from a CAMS background as an official and competitor. I personally think it should be the marshal's responsibility to carry to the rules, as they are the ones enforcing them.
There will always be discrepencies as there are always rules that can be interpruted differently. We can all only do uor best.

We did have 3 copys of the rules. The thing was the call was made with out refer to the book. So we made the call then the recording person marked the sheet. But the problem was fixed with out hassle.

Only other problem we had was a DNF time, but then a team made the time. So it stuck.

power torque tickled up my computer today, making heaps more power. 300kw at the motor apparently. Heaps smoother to drive. lots of little things were holding it back - fuel pressure reg had vacuum connected - didn't need it was over rich. one lead had a small crack - cut back 4 pots and over fueled them making the cats pop under load and a miss. all fixed now. got new diff ratios and tyre diameter set up too.

practice tomorrow morning with Ryan. then we trial pack etc. starting to get close now!!

I would put a picture of mine up but i don't know how. But it will be easy to spot as it will probably be the only 80 series as i don't think Brian & Keith are in this year.  [/quote]

Not sure if we are heading into town or not. I think Juzza might be interested. But since I aint taking a car, just riding shotgun. I will be just playing follow the leader.
Plus we had a big Friday night last time, and didnt feel like doing much let along driving to BH to watch the creek run.

I have only been once. But during day the it was comfortable to wear shorts. But at night and in the morning along beside the river it was cold. Very much needed long pants and a jumper. But by mid morning it was comfortable enough to lose the jumper.
But I was a marshall so not racing.

Busy trying to get the family wagon back into comp state.

Try this site for weather:

As long as the sun is shining, most years the weather has been shorts and t's during the day, fantastic......... but it has also got to 0 at nite......so take layers....that you can peal on and off. and old clobber for Viewmont, which u can throw away. Quilted waistcoats are the best cos they aren't resticting arm movement yet keep your upper body warm. Beanies are a must and a good jacket or d-aza-b. Don't 4get the pesky flies either...they can be unreal.
Our 1st year in 2000 it rained with a freezing wind on the last day.....and we had to swim/do a team exercise across the dam!!!.......

I don't think it's any secret that we have been hinting of yet another return ourselves and altho we confirmed some weeks ago now, our name & pic hasn't been added.

Much of the preps have remained Eugene's hard work but a huge mention and thanks has to go to Aaron Mitchell & boys at Mitchell Bros 4x4 and more in Brookvale nsw... 14, Roger Street. 99054765. They have been fantastic at giving my "over abused" swb a thorough once over and sorted a number of unseen probs so it's all 'sweet'!

We decided we'd done so many obc's we might as well keep going (if we could) until the 10th anniversary next year....now all we have to do is achieve that wish. This year we will of fronted up 9 times (not the record I know....as the Packers have been there since the start in 99, but also had the same year out as us after their change to a Rangie didn't work out!)
So this will be our 8th...cos my auto g/b packed up on arrival in BH one year. That turned into a v. expesive year apart from ending up Gold pass spectators!!!

Looking so forward to catching up with everyone and exo to hear you and Pete will be back Jane.....told you it gets in the blood didn't I.

See you all soon.
