hey .. i have a 2.5tdi nh paj and i have asked a few people about a bad rattley kind of noise and apparently it is my timeing chain .. is there an easy way to adjust or check this ??

There is a little plate on the front of the timing cover held on by 2 10mm bolts. Remove this and then crack the 10mm bolt that you find underneath. Push the guide down and lock the bolt back up.

This however is only adjusting the balance shaft chain and if the rattle is still there then you may need to put a chain and guide kit through it.

My 2.5 has a Timing belt..... Or is this something different?

good point im an idiot i didnt even realise .. just one of the fellas that went wheeling out with us said thats wat it could be .. any ideas on what the noise could be its on the same side as the alternator and sounds like something spinning or scraping on something as it spins ... i happened about half way up a hill just started doin in all of a sudden :cry: anyone got any ideas ???

Yeah forget my post.... for some reason i was thinking of the 2.6 petrol engine.

But if you did have one that is how you do it :lol:
