GQ inner axel oil seal. Tighter avalailable?

I have replaced the inner axel oil seals and I still have diff oil contaminateing the bearing grease.

I seem to remember this coming up before and a suggestiion of a seal with a slightly smaller diameter for the axel.

I would be 99% sure that he diff housing is straight as I have owned this one for a fair while.

Ideas??

I had a similar problem on a jackaroo years ago. It was fixed with a thing that was called, I think, a "Speedy Sleeve". It is a very thin stainless steel sleeve that is pressed onto the axle. It has a head to push it on with, that then breaks off after fitting. Try asking around bearing suppliers to see if they are still available.

So I would still use the same size seal and the sleave would be 1 or 2 mm thick?

yes it would use the same size seal. if you use a speedy shim give the surface where the seal runs a true surface again. some get pitted and leak. i have done this many times and have to also tighten the seal up too,by tweaking the spring up!

pull the spring out from beneath the seal lip. untwist the spring. it well then unfold into a straight looking spring. one end will be tappered & the other end will be the width of the spring. trim around 3-4 at a time until you get a good seal around your surface.then re twist back together. make sure you fit spring properly because when you put more tension on the spring the spring is likley to pop out of its lip.

do it by feel really. if you over do it the seal will overheat.

yeah had the problem with the nissan rear axle leak and i found them to be slightly egg shapped, cbc bearings sell speedy sleaves

one side fixed it self but i have yet to go back and redo the driver side and really clean it out
