immobiliser and turbo timer AND SUB TANK
hi all..
i just fitted a turbo timer to the gu patrol with an aftermarket "stinger" immobiliser fitted.
before the timer you shut the doors and press the button. doors lock and immobiliser comes on.
after the timer install. you can press the button and lock the doors, but the immobiliser wont come on. you need to press the button AGAIN after the engine has shut off. therefore no need for the timer.
is there a solution to this? tried some searching didnt yeild much.
thanks

There is a solution but I don't know what it is
When I worked in car audio I saw a fitter installing a car alarm in a WRX that had a turbo timer. He was fitting it so the immobiliser armed itself after the turbo timer stopped. The alarm and central locking was armed when you pressed the button (so it was still safe to walk away from it).
This was back in 1998.

i have a mongoose alarm and it has a turbo timer setting. from what i remember from the manual it locks car after the timer shuts engine off. i is a simple matter of following steps in the alarm manual to enable.
maybe you can do the same for your alarm, will need to read up the manual or maybe contact company direct

i dont have an alarm. just an engine immobilisor hooked up with central locking. i can lock my car and walk away and the engine will shut off but the immobilisor is useless as it is not armed.
if the immobilisor came on after the engine shut off that would be fine. but i would want to be able to lock the doors straight away keeping petty thiefs out.
im no auto elec but would the immobilisor be wired into the timer somehow and when the timer reaches zero, it engages some sort of switch that activates the immobilisor? only when remote button has been pressed (the doors lock)

Your immobilser/alarm needs to be compatible with a turbo timer.
I also have a Mongoose (M80).
You arm the car with the TT running, it locks the doors, and when the timer finishes it engages the immobiliser.
Also, if the car is breached whilst turbo timer is active, it immediately shuts the timer off and immobilises the vehicle.

i also have a m80 in my trol but cant use the turbo function because of the factory imobliliser.
the only way you can do it is if you stick a key head near the ring around the barrel to trick the computer into thinking theres still a key in the ignition... but theres no point because then you loose the imobliser.
there is also a way of doing a turbo timer on a non imobilised car with a normal alarm, you just have to use diodes and relays.

yeah there has to be a way, its just talking to the right ppl and worst case getting rid of the immobilisor and getting a compatable one and CASHvanbox wrote:its an ST GU ute and as far as i know they never came with an immobilisor. central locking if your lucky????
i just emailed a car alarm guy and that is probably going to be the best bet. keep on trying.

EDIT > also having prob with the sub tank. the dash light comes on and the pump wont work now the timer is installed. i searched and someone said to d/c the battery for a cpl seconds andthat worked, but only once. next time i turn the car on, the same thing happens.
after reading the manual. it states on startup the sub pump comes on for 10sec each time its started. why would that be? and would it be possible to d/c that part of it so it DOESNT come on at startup?
thanks again

well...fixed the sub tank problem today. bypassed the 10sec pump on startup.
got an electrical wizz mate to have a look at the immobilisor with help of your diagram bigcam. but he cant seem to work out what wires are doing what form the immobilisor. apparently seems complicated. any more info on it would be great. maybe someone has a wiring diagram for the stinger systems or knows where i can get them
thanks

I made me own 60 second / 3 minute turbo timer and whacked it on to the wires coming out of the ignition plug. I initially only found one "on" wire on the six pin plug, which my timer was driving.
Now initially me timer worked when keys were out of ignition but the sub tank LED came on and stayed on and I thought I blew stuff.
The trick is that you need to drive both "ON" wires that are on the ignition plug, and to fix sub-tank LED, just pull the battery for 20 seconds.
Worked like a charm. Fixed everything.
Total cost of my home-made turbo timer was about two hours all up of my time of installing it, fiddling, fiding the second "ON" and fixing.
Transistor, two caps, resistors were pulled from a telephone.
