Exaust noise limits??

gotta take my hilux over the pits next week and the exaust noise seems fairly high.. wondering wat the DB limits are and at what revs ( 2.8 deisel) they are messured at, and also how far away from the exaust tip do you hold the tester?

Slayer im pretty sure the decibal limit is 90Db under acceleration and it is a bit higher on the back off i think.
They are meant to hold the reader 3 foot away from the tip but some dont so if you wanna test it yourself before you take it to the pits i would hold it right up at the tip aswell just to be sure.

Wrap a rag up with tape and shove it down the pipe just before you get tested. I've done this before with a couple of ricers and they didn't test it for all that long so if you wrap it with electrical tape you can just pull the stuffing out when you get up the road and it will still be intact.

i used to stick a small piece of exhaust on the end with bodyfiller.
didnt last long but good enough for a roadworthy.

a couple of guys I know have put a peice of cut up coke can between the extractors & exhaust..

they cut the can up, make it flat, cut out the flange size and drill holes throught he can.

it acts like a restrictor, but sounds pretty shit and noticeable at high revs.. good for a dodge roadie check ;)
