Well I have just been to have a look at the 4-door wagon as a tow vehicle. What a POS. Real short wheelbase (300mm shorter than a troopie) and it just looks small in general. The dash is old school which we all new and which you could live with, but the finish on it and the rest of the car regarding seals, plastics, panels lining up etc is shit house. The wing mirrors and centre console are an after thought and look like a couple of pieces of offcut plastic whacked together. The rear bench is like sitting on a rock, and is literally a 'bench.' I am just 6 foot tall and felt cramped in the drivers seat with it RIGHT back. And only a 90L fuel tank....C'MON!!!! The engine output is the same as the 100 series turbo diesel. I think we'll be getting a second hand 100 series TD to tide us over until the 200series arrives in november/december. Hopefully they'll have their shit together a bit more with that.

these are made for the bush, they are no-frills packages, they are work horeses, not show ponies. if you want a show ponie then yes, wait till the 200 comes out, if you want an honest bus that will do what its made to do without the fancy crap, the take a 70, its upto you...

So because its a so called 'work horse' means they get to skimp on maintaining the build quality they once had and yet still charge you $65,000 for one. And im sure there is plenty of ways they can build a workhorse and still maintain some form of decency inside. 60 series where built tough and were half comfortable, as where the 80's.macca81 wrote:KaMo wrote:Well I have just been to have a look at the 4-door wagon as a tow vehicle. If you could jusitfy spending $65,000 on a half finished vehicle then good luck to you.
$65000 on road with no bar no nothing...thats from a dealer in W.A. straight up no hagling.macca81 wrote:the 4-door GXL is $57,000...
i didnt see any probs with the build quality, there was little in the way of luxury but the build quality was there
Your entitled to you opinion and im entitled to mine. I think the way a lot of things are finished off etc is UTS. But if you think they are the dogs danglers then thats cool by me.
i work at a toyota dealer, u wait till u see the genuine acessories, i hope arb can do better, the side steps and scrub bars we have been fitting are stupid, the scrub bars bolt to the bullbar but only go half way along the door on the utes, leaving the other half of the sill uncovered.
the enginebay is to tight, would hate to wana fit anything in there.
