2.8 turbo diesel rocket cover breather question
hi, i have a turbo glide kit running a t25 turbo, before the turbo got installed i had the breather hose going from the inlet manifold to rocket cover now i have it going from rocket cover to air intake pipe before the turbo.
My question is if i run a intercooler is it best to run a oil catch can from rocket cover to the can? My thought is the oil mist might go through the turbo and then into the intercooler only to clog it up or make it less efficient.
Why would they take it out of the inlet manifold and put it in the intake pipe when its not gonna be in the way where it is? Unless it lubes up the turbo some what?
Any ideas guys

if they left it on the inlet manifold, your tuirbo would pressurise your rocker cover (and in turn your crank case). Must be put pre-turbo.
This is how all factory turbo setups are run, even the ones with intercoolers, so unless yours has farked rings and ispumping alot of oil through your crank case ventilation hose (the hose coming from yiour rocker cover) then it wont be a problem.

EVERY 2.8 litre hilux I have EVER seen or owned (3) has alot of blowby. That is just the way they are. None of mine has ever needed topping up between oil changes, but YES you should fit a oil catch can, but only if it hass at least the same size fittings as your breather. Smaller will pressurize crankcase.

also if it has lots of blowby drill out the outlet on the rocker cover and also check the baffels inside the cover. they can get clogged and holds the oil in it instead of draining back into the motor) helping it to blow out the vent.
I have seen the oil catch cans have 2 inlets on the top, do you put the hose from the rocket cover on one and put a breather on the other?

They are normally baffled inside, or full of steel wool(type stuff) which makes the oil drop to the bottom. Then the other connection on the top is the outlet, by law needs to be fed back into your intake (pre turbo). If they have a connection on the bottom, its only going to be for draining the oil.
