Diff Oil and services

Post by tritontray »

Service time is coming around again, but I have no information regarding Diff (front and back) oil type or quantity.

I also want to grease everything that has a nipple on it as I know they haven't been done in a while. What sort of grease is recomended?

Lastly there is no workshop manual for 2.8L N/A diesel triton (4M40). Is there a comparable pajero/challenger/delica that would have basically the same running gear, engine. front end, that I could buy to help me work on my car as it is frustrating wanting to do work on the ute, but having no reference material to help me.

Thanks all.

The series 2 GL paj had the Non turbo 4M40, maybe have a look at that manual and see if it's similar to your setup.

we used a chassis grease by castrol in the workshop, but now i just fill up my grease gun with a decent bearing grease. probably not perfect but seems to do the job nicely.

can't remember oil types for the diffs i'm sorry, and capacity might be different to mine, but i just fill up to the bottom of the diff filler plug.

I researched greases, and settled on Castrol APX T.

Oil, I think I'm using a Penrite LSD oil front and rear. I may have put the same in the transfer - I can't remember. Next time I find my Paj spares (I'm in the middle of moving house) I'll have a look.
