LATE MODEL RANGIE

Post by gqmad »

Hey guys have just bought a 1998 model rangie with the full luxury pack.
What size tyres can I put on this with standard air bag suspension? will 15" rims fit as it has 18" on it at the moment.
also who makes a bull bar for this.I have been told arb dont.
also does exhaust help this motor or what other mods respond well, all help is greatly appreciated.

congratulations, ive always wanted one of these. Arb dont make a bar, however i once saw a pic of one with an ARB bar on it, must have been adapted off another model. Landrover make a factory bullbar and winch mount, but the bar is soft plastic coated steel and wouldnt do much against a roo or tree (probley good for hitting pedestrians though). PM hardy on this forum, his rig is on page 17 of the POST UP YOUR ROVERS sticky thread. Also do a search for P38 or P38a which is the model name, there will be heaps of info.

Apparently you can adapt a D2 bar to fit. Have seen a D2 ARB Sahara bar on a P38a and it looked sweet.

Also C44F (aka Brooksy) is looking into making these, send him a PM.

16's will fit, not sure about 15's but they may.

You need to find a set of 16" rims off a D2 if you can as 15" wont fit, i also heard of a D2 bar fitting. They have large arches so 32/33" should fit ok.
Saddle up tonto, its the not so loanrangie! . 98 TDI DISCO lightly modded with more to come.

Early 38A Rangies had 16x7 wheels so you should be able to find some.
Biggest tyres AFAIK without lift is 245.75X16.
I bought a set of BFG muds from a guy on 16 inch wheels, and he said they didn't rub anywhere. I sold the wheels years ago to a bloke with a D2 who put them on with MTRs I think and blew his diff first time out.
They used to be like rocking Horse Sh1t but there should be more around now and also D2 wheels are interchangeable.
But look on the AULRO site hwer ethere is currently a thread about how weak 38A diffs are.
